... So I went to sleep last night, and found myself home. Went through a whole couple months, a bunch of shit happened, and then I wake up here again after it's all over. Kinda feeling jerked around a bit, but what's happened has happened.

Anyway, I've been hearing prayers from people whose relationships are in trouble lately, and if this place is going to insist I be a love goddess, then I guess I'd better do something about it. Problem is, the soulless shinki this place assigned me and I haven't been getting on at all, and considering it's been a few months since I saw him from my perspective, I don't think it'd be a good idea to try and force it.

This isn't easy to admit, but if I'm gonna do this, I need help. Would anyone be willing to help me stake out the Tokyo Museum for a few nights? There's definitely ayakashi involved, so I definitely know I shouldn't go it alone.

He likes dried fish, large pillows, and ear scratches. Be wary of touching his tail or his belly, and especially do not offend him by claiming that he is an inferior creature. I will not be held responsible for the damages he will cause.

[ First there's a mess of blonde hair, as if someone turned the camera on a little too quickly and excitedly before being fully ready, but then Minako's face - with a big smile - fully appears. ]

So, everyone.. Valentine's Day is coming up, and you all know what that means! [ She moves her eyebrows up and down a few times. ] Of course I'm sure some of you already have found that special someone to spend that special day with, but there must be some people who are still worried about what they'll do on that day!

Well, if you're one of those people, then have no fear! You don't have to spend all day feeling down when you can instead dedicate it to finding the love of your life! That's what I'm here to help you with this year. You see, you can sign up for having one or more quick blind dates on Valentine's Day. Just leave me a comment here if you're interested, and tell me if you're interested in one date, or two, or three, or.. well, maybe someone will set the record for most blind dates in one day?

[ She laughs. ]

Anyway, once you've done that, people will randomly get assigned together and you'll be told the location of your date or dates on Valentine's Day itself! It's that simple!

And maybe by now you're thinking, "aw geez, Minako, I know you're a totally cute and super capable girl, but how could even you do all of that all by yourself?!" Never fear once more, since I have a super great partner in all of this who will tell you some more about this great opportunity!

[ Minako seems to reach for something off camera, muttering a few things under her breath at whatever is there, and then Chikusa is dragged onto the video. Not entirely willingly, from the looks of it. ]

[In fact, Chikusa definitely isn't willing, as is obvious by the fact that he is aggressively not making eye contact with the camera. After a few moments, perhaps giving into the oppressive sparkling atmosphere which is around Minako, he grits out a sigh.]

...No more than three dates.

[They have not planned for more than three. He refuses to do more work.]

Also... we need some people willing to clean up ayakashi on that day, too. There's a variant which seems to be getting worked up about this holiday.... So we need cleaners. Tell us if you're interested....

[After a second, he weakly tries to pull out of Minako's grip not too unlike a cat.]

[ Minako doesn't seem like she'll let go just yet, which means there's a lame and weak tug of war happening on camera right now as Minako tries to maintain her near sparkly smile. ]

Yes, let us know! Now how do I..

[ She reaches over to the camera - thankfully letting go of Chikusa - and manages to shut the feed off after a moment or two. ]

So, did anyone else run into the kid god on the volcano? I hear the Heavens have been claiming he was defeated, but me and a few others were there for that and "defeat" isn't the word I would have used. It looked a lot more like he sealed himself away or escaped.

We need to be prepared for the possibility of him coming back, but if anyone actually got him to talk instead of just retaliating, it'd be useful to have that information to work with. I get the impression nobody told him what he was going to be dealing with, but he definitely thinks us and the old gods are one and the same, so he's going to need convincing if any of you decided there was a misunderstanding.

[Or, as he doesn't really want to put it in case the Heavens are overseeing the conversation, in case anyone decided they want to protect him. Shun's been meaning to do this for a few days, but he's been given even more reason to be focusing on work in the last two, so why not use this to take his mind off things a bit.]

From: Judar Date: January 21st, 1:13am So there's some kind of sorcery in the Far Shore that involves controlling ayakashi. Some of the old gods were forced to reincarnate because of the whole thing and shinki were executed. None of the names have been written down though. Anyone know more about it? ... Adding onto this Like, is the way of 'control' the way that they define controlling shinki? Which is just transforming and having power, but exact control isn't a thing. That's just by giving a spirit a name though, right? Now I'm wondering if shinki can give shinki names. Can the rend spell still work like that, if it's possible? Can a shinki name an ayakashi? How does one factor the corruption? Touching them causes blight when we fight them, so what if you had that kind of connection? Sounds like you'd have to constantly stay in a bath of holy water or something. Unless there's a medicine that's meant to deal with blight from shinki and everything, to delay ablutions and other extreme measures?

So here's a question for all of you.

Say sometime in the future, a way home pops up. The stars are right, or the prayers of the world unite, or we find whatever brings us here and reverse it. Doesn't matter what, the key thing is that it won't last. You've got to decide right away. What do you do?

If you're a shinki, going home means you're dead. No more life like this that you can expect. Is it worth the gamble? What if you get stuck as a shinki in your own world, not remembering anything, no other shinki or gods? On the other hand, you stay here and you get stuck with whoever's left if your god takes off. Maybe they all do and you're off to the old gods, or unnamed. Either one's a raw deal.

Gods? You got it easy. You go back and pick up where you left off. Except you'd be leaving your shinki behind. No promise on what happens to them. Maybe they'll end up with someone okay, maybe not. Maybe even if you made an arrangement with someone who'd stay, it goes wrong. Do you just abandon them? Trust that the old gods won't be so bad?

Not saying it's going to work out this way. But it might. So what if?

[Being an old-timey Japanese person, Ayumu's unfamiliar with Christmas Eve or Christmas traditions. What she is acquainted with is New Year's and it's coming up very soon. Since her return from the dead, Ayumu's been too busy recovering from her ordeal and its fallout this month to really announce herself.

Between returning to the Shinsengumi and getting affairs in order at her own temple, Ayumu simply hasn't had the time or energy to dedicate to making all the social calls she'd like. There's something she's been thinking about doing, however, and Ayumu's running out of time to do it.

So here is a video of a very solemn and subdued looking Ayumu Yamazaki in a plum-blossom patterned kimono with her hair done up in a sleek bun. The eyepatch over her left eye is absent today, revealing the facial scarring marring her brow and the drooping lid in stark clarity. Her posture is straighter than it's been in quite some time. She appears to be seated at a kitchen table, her hands clasped neatly in front of her.

After a moment, Ayumu begins to speak quietly and evenly in the Kyoto accent she hasn't used since her first time here as a goddess.]

Hello. My name is Ayumu Yamazaki. I'm also known as Vesta and have gone by Lady Yumi on this shore in the past. I'm aware that many of you do not know me. Many of those that do are not aware that prior to my life here as a shinki, I was once a goddess. It's because of those who were once here but have long since passed on or vanished that I am speaking now.

[Ayumu bows her head briefly in a moment of silence before lifting it once more.]

On New Year's Eve, I'll be holding a candlelit vigil at my temple to honor and bid a proper farewell to those who've left us, whether it be through choice, death, or unknown forces. A new year awaits us all, one that may prove to be full of better prospects but I believe that in order to greet it fully with open arms, we must first let go of what binds us in the past. If anyone would like to do the same, you are all welcome to join me at my temple.

[Ayumu includes directions to her temple in the western district. When she's done, she bows deeply to the camera then straightens up. Just before the video cuts out, there's the sound of a very demanding meow coming from off-screen.]

[The video opens up to Chikusa, clearly walking along a street with street lamps and the warm glow of various storefronts going past him. He keeps the camera focused on his face, delivering his words in the usual blank monotone.]

So... A lot of stuff has happened recently. It's been troublesome... So, to help bring peace and whatever back to the household... Hakkai is taking us all to an all you can eat buffet sort of place.

[He carefully turns his camera around, focusing on what's ahead of him. Or, rather, the people walking ahead of him: Cho Hakkai leading at the very front, the scruffy headed Sha Gojyo close besides them as the two talk about whatever, Goku nearly right behind, and Ken behind him. Ken in particular seems to be switching from looking back at Chikusa as if to make sure that he hasn't lost him and exchanging indistinct bickerings with Goku. After making sure he's gotten a decent enough shot, Chikusa turns the camera back around to focus on his face.]

...I once saw Goku and Ken go through an entire pot of pasta. Each. And were still hungry.

( so it's going to be that kind of night )

You know, sometimes I wish I could remember more about my life before coming here.

[A brief pause, and then he urgently waves his hands at the camera in a dismissive fashion.]

Aaaa, don't worry, it's not like I'm going to try to think too hard about it or anything! I know it's wrong.

[Also dangerous, he knows that too. But the "wrong" takes priority for him in particular.]

But it's just... [He pauses as a small and grumpy-looking pig scrabbles into his lap, scratching its ears distractedly.]

I have a lot of wonderful memories of these place, and I love being a shinki. But sometimes it feels like there is so much I don't know and need to make up for, you know? It's a bit daunting.

[He smiles widely.] So, that said... what are some of your best memories? Let's share them! Of both this place and home, depending on what you remember. It doesn't have to be very complicated, just something that makes you feel nice!

We would like to express our gratitude to those who recently assisted in the events involving a forest within the Heavens. Although our investigation continues, we wish to share some of the things that we have already discovered with you.

First, the forest was under the control of a god who is unknown and unrecorded within the Heavens. With your help, this control has been broken, and we are protecting the forest against any further interference.

Second, we believe that this was not the first time a god unknown to the Heavens attempted entry. During the harvest moon viewing, an unknown god was present, although we became aware of their presence too late to apprehend them. Since two attempts have now been made, we must assume that the god responsible will continue trying.

We require your cooperation to deal with this pretender. Do not allow anyone but yourself and your shinki to enter the Heavens through your shrines. [ Yata sends out a text this morning after pretty much not having slept all night and he can't decide if he's more pissed or worried at this point. ....Being pissed is easier, he's still trying to hold onto that emotion more than letting himself worry about worst case scenarios already. ]

Alright, what the hell is going on? Neither Izumo or Fushimi came home last night. Neither one of them is answering their phones either. Does anyone know anything?

....Haven't an awful lot of people gone missing? Shouldn't there be.... I don't know, someone doing something about this?

[ He's a shinki, this is not really his area of expertise here, but uh. Shouldn't there be a red alert or something going up before more people get vanished? This is so not normal... ]
