So, did anyone else run into the kid god on the volcano? I hear the Heavens have been claiming he was defeated, but me and a few others were there for that and "defeat" isn't the word I would have used. It looked a lot more like he sealed himself away or escaped.
We need to be prepared for the possibility of him coming back, but if anyone actually got him to talk instead of just retaliating, it'd be useful to have that information to work with. I get the impression nobody told him what he was going to be dealing with, but he definitely thinks us and the old gods are one and the same, so he's going to need convincing if any of you decided there was a misunderstanding.
[Or, as he doesn't really want to put it in case the Heavens are overseeing the conversation, in case anyone decided they want to protect him. Shun's been meaning to do this for a few days, but he's been given even more reason to be focusing on work in the last two, so why not use this to take his mind off things a bit.]

[Which, considering Votelli, makes him suspicious enough already.]

I might be late, since I've had some other things come up to deal with in the last few days, but I suppose it's been a while since I visited.
[Not-very-subtly turning down any implication of actual food, but hey.]

We'll look forward to your arrival. Let us know when you're on your way. Is there anything in particular you'd like?
[Sorry, what was that about turning down food-]

[Since he's...not planning to eat anyway, surprise surprise.
Ebisu will get another text about three hours later noting that Shun's on his way over. He definitely looks rather like he's been busy - he's put-together enough to not be wildly impolite, but it's pretty obvious it was a bit of a rush job of cleaning himself up before he came.]

[Goku... suspects this kid may be the same one he met, but he can't really be sure. If it was him though, he's glad he made it out okay. Probably surprising no one who was at Zelda's meeting and saw how he and Gojyo defended the other child god causing trouble for the heavens.]

[At least Votelli had been somewhat receptive to discussion.]

A few of Amaterasu's shinki had him cornered on the lip of the volcano. He attacked, me and a small group of others drove him further into a corner and retaliated when he attacked us as well - he looked like he was mostly trying to drive us off before that, but he started attacking to kill once we fired back at him. I chased him along the rim of the volcano, and rather than let me catch him when he was well and truly cornered, he leapt into it.

Do you remember the Moon Festival? And the chaos that followed?

[The culprit had been a young kid who somehow got into the Heavens, after all...]

We can't write off the possibility that there's more of these kid gods, though, considering Votelli.

Does being a god even mean shit here? You've got different powers than shinki, I guess, but there's nothing fucking omnipotent about godhood. Seems like even basic competence is a reach for these fucks. Seems like gods just got one half of a skillset and arbitrarily convinced everyone that their half was the better half.

My attitude on how godhood works here is about the same as yours. I'm sick to death of hearing the ridiculous garbage about how "gods are always just", or being pushed to abandon the idea of being human for becoming like them and ceasing to care about anything that isn't the biggest picture imaginable. But unfortunately, they've decided I have status now, so I have to put up with that even more than most other people here.
no subject
But the hell with their shit. Somebody asked for a god, and they got me, so I'm going to be the best fucking god there's ever been. And considering that the previous batch of gods apparently built their thrones on smug superiority over nothing much, treating shinki like disposable napkins, and general horseshit, I don't think I'll even break a sweat surpassing them.

It's not a high bar to pass when it comes to the old gods. Most of the new gods give more of a damn about their followers and the disasters that have gone on here than the old ones, and do more about it.
[Shun does also think this guy doesn't sound like anyone to be talking about smug superiority, but he also knows people like that tend to start annoying petty fights over it as well, and he has better things to do with his time.]
