So there's some kind of sorcery in the Far Shore that involves controlling ayakashi. Some of the old gods were forced to reincarnate because of the whole thing and shinki were executed. None of the names have been written down though.
Anyone know more about it?
... Adding onto this
Like, is the way of 'control' the way that they define controlling shinki? Which is just transforming and having power, but exact control isn't a thing.
That's just by giving a spirit a name though, right?
Now I'm wondering if shinki can give shinki names. Can the rend spell still work like that, if it's possible?
Can a shinki name an ayakashi? How does one factor the corruption? Touching them causes blight when we fight them, so what if you had that kind of connection? Sounds like you'd have to constantly stay in a bath of holy water or something.
Unless there's a medicine that's meant to deal with blight from shinki and everything, to delay ablutions and other extreme measures?

[He checks the name. It doesn't like that of a god's... So, another shinki then. He'll keep that in mind.]

Given the fact that ayakashi are spirits and/or shinki filled with corruption, one would think that ayakashi would be able to be controlled. On the other hand, if that's possible, then why wouldn't Heaven want to control the ayakashi for their own purposes?
Following that line of thought, if some of the old gods were forced to reincarnate, then what if that implies to Amaterasu as well?
no subject
They put shinki through ablutions and kill them if they spread the corruption too much against the god, right? I don't see why it'd have to be so forbidden and severely punished if the god is willing to put up with constant blight from whatever they control. So I get the idea of not promoting it, or making it common practice, but they're high enough to choose their own risks.
And it very well could. Does anyone even know the reasons she was put through reincarnation?
no subject
No one knows. Still, the fact that there have been past experiences with people trying to kill Amaterasu is an interesting thought. What if they're trying to put her through reincarnation against since this incarnation isn't living up to their standards?

So couldn't you say that it's all they feel? It's easy to not act the way people would expect you to feel.

Although I guess it would be easy enough to test, if you didn't mind the risk of painful death.

A master of that could easily control them

It'd depend on whether the second kind of corruption is enough to overtake the original nature, right? That's something worth experimenting on for said 'masters.'

There isn't a way to find out unless one tries.

I'm going to guess that if our gods get "stung" when we get upset, naming something made out of negative emotions isn't the greatest plan even if it's possible.
Let us know if you hear anything about medicines.

Oh and am I reading "forced to reincarnate" right as "also executed"?
no subject
And yeah, you're reading that right. They rely on the reincarnating aspect for gods. Probably in hopes that they do better the next time around.

I'm not expressing interest in anything but the 'shinki naming shinki' aspect, though. If his description's accurate that's the one least likely to be involved with any forbidden sorcery.
If how this all works is the way I think, it also shouldn't even function, but wouldn't it be interesting if it did?

However, it's not as if these answers aren't already out there and were answered in a semi-public setting.]
Ask the people present at Zelda's meeting back in December. Two of your questions were directly answered there.

So I have no way of knowing who was at this Zelda's meeting. Also, which two questions?
[ He can make an educated guess, but would like confirmation if it could be gotten. ]

And what good reason would anyone have for controlling ayakashi? Assuming it didn't instantly blight you into becoming an ayakashi yourself, they're only good for hurting people. Near Shore and Far Shore alike. So it sounds like you're an idiot looking for weapons against gods, who's dumb enough to sign their name.

I don't have to think of good reasons for why people do things. It's a curiosity to an academic level. Plus, if I see someone doing that, I want to see the look on their face when that control is cancelled out. Even more, it'd be interesting to see how things go once these questions are put into people's heads.
Look at the other replies. It's getting people to think or even consider the option.
