I have a question for the shinki among us.
How important to you is your connection to your god?
If you could go without a name, and not worry about your safety or a place to stay, would you prefer to?

[Which answers the first question as well, in Chikusa's opinion.]

I'm really happy that I have a good god! He's really nice to me.
But when my first one went away I didn't want a new one...
I stayed with a friend and that was nice.
It wasn't hard but it didn't really get easier? Especially after awhile.

I'm grateful to her. if nothing else I want to repay her.
bury that dere deep...
I understand. If something happened to her, though, what would you choose?
A new god or none?

I like having a name and being useful to her.

If you think of it in general, though... for instance, if something happened to your goddess, would you prefer to continue alone or find someone new?

I don't like belonging to anyone much less be bound to them. My answer would be yes. I would much prefer not being tied down to any God without having to question my own safety.

I see. Thank you, it's interesting to know that there are shinki who feel that way, too.

Anon;
While it would be nice to have security, I wouldn't know what I'd do with myself. And I still don't know who I am. I might not find out in an ordinary life.
no subject
It's not something that's a good idea to try to find out in this life, either.

To your first question: my connection with my god is the most precious treasure I have right now. I've been more fortunate than most. My god shares the same values as I do, and tries very hard to uphold the duties and responsibilities expected of a god. That's the kind of god that I'm proud to guide and serve. And I've been treated kindly by my god, and with respect.
To your second question: no. As a shinki I have powers that can help protect the living, but killing ayakashi requires a god. It would be irresponsible and selfish to turn my back on the Near Shore, not when I can do more. And having a god to guide and assist gives me meaningful purpose; I'm not a person that's satisfied to simply live without striving towards a greater good.

You have been very lucky in your god, then, indeed. I wish you the best of continuing luck with your partnership.
Then, am I right to think that you feel that in order to have a higher purpose as well as to protect the Near Shore, you must have a god to work with?

without him id be wandering alone
and he appreciates me for who i am

I am relieved to hear there aren't many of us who are truly unhappy with our situation.
If you were without a god, do you feel like you would be alone?
no subject
Sorry sorry if this Shinki only but I'm curious too!
Can I shoot same question, right back at you?
no subject
As for the second part, I wouldn't like to influence anyone's answer!

No, it's all right, you don't have to answer. I'm glad you've found a god you can follow wholeheartedly.

No, I wouldn't. I wish to be of help to someone and to humans. Without a god, I doubt I would be able to do as much.
no subject
I've heard that more than once today. So the primary importance of a god, to you, is to enable you to do more to help others?

but since we can't take out the stupid ayakashi on our own, I guess it's moot.
no subject
Those corpses, for instance.
It's only the ayakashi that shinki and gods need one another's help for.

Really, though, I'm asking in order to help someone else with a decision they're making. My perspective is only one perspective, after all.
