Can Shinki get sick?

[ A seemingly simple question, but one that's been clawing at him for days. The symptoms have become too painful to ignore, so he bites his tongue and seeks answers because unknown to him, his bloodlust has begun to manifest. ]

I think you can expect anyone to get sick
if they don't take proper care of themselves!
For example, staying up too late and not eating will drain you.
Even if you won't die from not doing either of those
it can still affect you. So, with that being said
Yes, you can probably get sick. But being a shinki
It may take something different than what humans need to get better.

[ His mind singles out that last line. ]

I have an idea, but... it depends.
What's wrong? Do you have a fever? Are you in pain?

Depends on what?

[ He's not telling him anything until he knows. ]

I don't want to give you crappy advice!
What if I tell you to drink a certain kind of tea mixture
But you don't even have those symptoms, it could be worse!

[ During this conversation Zero still has not found the reason for his affliction so he'll humor the god if it led him to anything near an answer. ]

Hunger. Thirst.

Those are the symptoms.

[ There's a bit of length of time that passes before he gets a response back. ]

How much does your god know about you?
I know the question seems strange, but
I don't think this is a normal sickness.
I'm guessing you already tried eating and drinking, right?

They have nothing to do with it.

[ A quick response, laced in steel. He hadn't met with his god nor did he ever plan too. Whatever was happening, he'd figure it out on his own. ]

It doesn't help. The hunger doesn't go away.

I don't mean that the god has anything to do with it.
But you're a shinki, so you don't recall anything about your past.
It could be something related to that.
In fact, I'm almost certain of it.

[ A few minutes pass and he shoots another text. ]

I'm sure you have your reasons for not involving your god
But, would you mind
if I took a look at you?
I have a certain power that might be able to find out exactly what's wrong.

[ His fingers tighten on the device. It's something he's already considered but has yet to accept, not when the others have offered a more simple explanation since his last message. ]

Blight.

According to the others, I have the symptoms.

[ A moment passes. ]

If it was blight, I think your god
would have hunted you down by now.
I don't think it's blight.

[ A look. ]

Is that what you would do?

[cleanmemory]

Yes.
Because if something is wrong, and I was your god
I'd want to help you.
Well, I'm not your god but I still want to help.
So either way I'd do my best.
Which is why I want to take a look at you.
...If you're worried, it won't hurt.

[ It's a long time before he answers. ]

What will you do?

I just need to touch your hand or arm or something.
It will allow me to read your physiology a little.

[ And potentially latent memories but that all depends on yoU! ]

[ That meant, it needed to be face to face. He's hesitant to go near anyone, not when he doesn't know when the hunger will strike. But then... what happens when it does? Without his memories to help him understand, he'll lose this battle. This, he knows. ]

[ There are directions included. ]

[ Ten minutes later he sends a response. ]

I'm outside.

[ Zero has made it a point to avoid the temples of the gods and here and so, he doesn't step inside. ]

[ It's another few minute before Watanuki comes outside, slipping past the wide open doors of his obscenely large temple. He's wearing a dark-blue yukata with thin silver stripes and a silver obi. He made his way over to Zero, tucking his phone away into his sleeve. ]

Welcome. I'm glad you made it. [ He pauses a few paces away from Zero, giving him a formal look over. ]

We've met before, but briefly. My name is Watanuki, if you don't remember.

[ He watches his approach, his eyes neither friendly nor hostile. ]

I remember.

[cleanmemory]

Good. [ He nods. ] Alright then, Zero-san.

Like I said, it won't hurt. I just need to touch you for a moment so I can get a reading. [ And he held out his slender hands. ] May I please see your hand?

[moonlitknight]

[ For a moment, he simply watches him, his thoughts hidden behind the calm facade as he extends a hand out to him to do as he will. ]

[ He's only used his powers a couple of times so far, but never on a person. But he knows it will work--he was able to stop a drug ring last time, so using it on a person... well. Inanimate objects were one thing: they didn't have memories or feelings per se, but the people who touched them did, and he was able to see the stories behind it all. But objects didn't have walls. ]

[ People did, so he had a feeling what he founnd would vary, but maybe if he focused... ]

[ 'Please let me see what's wrong, so I can help him.' He made a short prayer to himself, before reaching out with both hands, taking Zero's hand in both of his own. He let his thumb glide very gently over the top of the other's hand as he focused in. ]
