[ He's not looking at Zero at the moment, eyes turned away as he mulls things over in his head. ]

...I was walking, in the snow, and I found a gun. It was big and heavy, and covered in blood. When I picked it up, I met you, and you shot me. Everything was incredibly cold.

But I was able to see you again, after. That's when I saw you injured and bleeding, with your neck scratched up. [ He was being careful about what he was saying. He knew that a shinki finding out too much about themselves could be bad, potentially. He could lay everything up but he couldn't tell him anything and it was frustrating! ]

...Did you... come with any sort of medication? They should be white pills.

Pills......

[ Suddenly, the tension breaks and he pulls out a small silver case, slipping the top off with his fingers. ]

How did...

[ He know...? ]

[ His eyes slide from where tey weren't looking at Zero when he heard the gentle clatter of the pills. He nods his head. ]

Take one. [ Anther pause. ] Take two, actually. [ He would have suggested taking them with water, but... ]

[ He remembered how they hit the water, and everything turned red, looking like blood. Would that frighten him? Maybe... he should... ]

That's why I wanted you to come inside. [ He said slowly. ] Because I think...

...That you shouldn't take it plain. You really should put it in water. [ Not for it to be easier to take... no. In fact, he was certain they would be harder to take. But for Zero to see, for Zero to come up with his own conclusion, because if he was right, then... he couldn't tell him. He couldn't tell him. ] Or you can take one plain, and then put the second one in water.

...I... I'm sorry. I wish I could tell you more, but I'm unable to.

[ He grips the pills in his hands and he's suddenly rounding on him, the information too great for the Shinki to ignore. He's been given too much and already he's falling down a slippery slope. ]

What are you holding back?!

[ His mind clings to his words, searching for answers, memories. ]

Tell me!

I CAN'T! [ He finally snapped at him, and his voice was loud and robust, despite how lanky he was. ] Do you think I'm keeping shit from you because I want to?! Give me some more credit, dammit!

I'm not your god, I can't see everything like they probably can! And what I do know, what I'm pretty damn sure of, I can't tell you, because it will put you in danger! It would put your god in danger, too! [ Shit, if Zero felt guilty about shooting him, his god may have just gotten a good zap. Oh well. ]

If I was your god, it would be different, because it would be my choice f I told you something but, I...

It's not that easy.

You probably... don't even trust me as far as you could throw me. [ Maybe that was a bad example--it looked like Zero was pretty damn capable of throwing him far, with what he saw. ]

[ Zero doesn't give a damn about a god that rejected him since the start, especially when he's unaware of what his guilt did to him. Another vital piece of information denied to him, yet here another god stood in his way doing exactly the same. He was slipping, actively seeking memories denied to him. ]

You don't get to decide what to keep from me! They're my memories! My choice!

I don't care about the danger! I need to--

[ He staggered, a sudden sickness overtaking him, different from the hunger. He reached too much, slipped too far and now the Heaven's were punishing him for seeking that which had been taken. ]

Zero-san! [ Watanuki hesitated to touch him, but thought to hell with it, if he got shot he got shot, fine. The young god, grasped hold of the holder to keep him upright. ]

This is what I mean! I'm trying to help you as best as I can!

It might be hard for you, but just try and listen to my advice. [ He started moving him--into the temple this time, not taking no for an answer. Hell yeah, he was going to take advantage of his weakened state. ]

If you want answers stop being stubborn and listen to me!

[ He gasped, his stomach heaving in an effort to get him to stop clawing at the line of memories that lined his subconscious, yet stubborn as he was, Zero held on, refusing to let go. He knew they were there under the surface and the more he tugged at them the greater the sickness that washed over him until it drove him to his knees outside the temple, stronger than any of his episodes that drove him here in the first place. ]

[ He nearly toppled over with him, because Zero was heavier than him, and Watanuki was about as strong as... something... not very strong. He turned to the other. ] Wh-what the--

Stop! [ And he grabbed Zero's shoulders, shaking him. ] Stop it! Your going to kill yourself! You're going to kill yourself!

If you don't stop it I'm going to slap you and turn you into my shinki! You don't want to be owned by someone like me, right?!

[ The physical interference shook his hold on the thread making him lose his grip on them. ]

Don't touch me!

DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO! [ Another hard shake. ]

SNAP OUT OF IT, ZERO!

[ He tried so desperately to hold on but the hard shake dislodged his hold and the chord snapped back down into his subconscious leaving him with nothing but a keen sense of loss so deep it awoke the beast inside. ]

[ Reeling from the loss, the beast clawed its way past the Hunter and Zero snapped red eyes on the god before him, the beast gleeful at its momentary freedom. ]

[ The look had Watanuki reeling. He felt... dizzy. And-- ]

[ A black smog that he'd become accustomed to seeing swelled up, and he knew whatever he was looking at was bad. he covered his mouth and nose. His legs crumpled beneath him, and he dropped to the floor, flat on his ass. His eyes were wide. ]

[ Monster. No. ]

[ Vampire. He knew it! He had to have been a...! ]

Va... [ The word died ins his throat. He was shaking. His heart was pounding fast--and he fought to stop it, because he knew what it meant. His blood was pumping. he could hear it churning in his veins, and worst of all... he knew it smelled good, and-- ]

Z-z....Ze...ro... [ He managed shakily. He was a god, dammit. He was a god! Should he be able to do something?! ]

[ But he couldn't move. He couldn't-- ]

[ A god. Yet, it could smell the fear thickening around him. It grinned at the picture he made. How easy it would be to desecrate the steps of his own temple with his blood. The thought alone excited him feeding the madness that helped him drive the grieving Hunter down. ]

Zero-san. [ He tried to steady his voice. It wasn't working, but he was trying. ] Take...

[ The pills! And he saw the container, lying on the floor beside them. His eyes slid towards them, before his hand followed, slowly, as to not spark alarm with any sudden movements. His fingers ghosted over them closing the container in his hand. ]

Take your pills. You need to take them. [ And he opened the container, pouring three into a trembling, cupped hand. ] I... I swear--

If I have to shove them in your mouth, I will!

[ He instantly appeared in front of him and smacked the bottle away with a single blow. They were a farce substitute to the real thing and the Hunter had been holding back for far too long. Longer than he should have. But wasn't that always the case? He held back. He was so good at it that he drove himself apart, blocking out his heart and in the process giving him free reign to it. It fed on his emotions, and with no one to keep it in check, it slowly twisted them, influencing the man so that little by little he started to succumb to the insidious whisper. Then his brother happened. That shard the beast secretly tried to devour had repelled him every time until the Hunter finally noticed his other half and made him finally accept his hunger. The beast. But that shard was gone now and Zero had reverted back once again making him rage inside, waiting until the day the hunter finally broke and now... ]

Why don't you run?

[ He took a step toward him. ]

It's always better when they run.

Because I'm... [ He had it. ] I'm not scared of you!

You'll be the one running! [ That was it. Only one choice now. And if he was right, then... ]

[ Watanuki had a feeling this would be a mistake... or it could work, either way Something was going to happen. With that, he lifted up his hand... ]

[ And he bit his thumb, hard. He wanted to yelp in pain, but his mouth was full of flesh. And now-- ]

[ Blood. ]

[ The blood of a god was a grand thing indeed rivaling that of a Pureblood and the vampire welcomed it but it was a double edged sword. The scent cut through him so sharply that it snapped the Hunter out of his reprieve and clawed at it the moment he let down his guard to partake on the feast laid out for him. His tattoo suddenly glowed and Zero staggered back, hand clutching at his throat as the scent of the blood coalesced around him. ]

Stay Away!

[ He clawed at his head, as he gasped for breath, and fought against his instincts, against the beast and hungry as he was, Zero wasn't so far gone to lose the battle this round. With great effort, he slammed the beast back in its cage and leashed it in the dark before it had a chance to taste the blood that clung to him, luring him in so soundly it frightened him to his core.]

[ It worked! ]

[ Watanuki jammed his thumb into his mouth, sucking away the blood. In the same motion, he reared back his foot, kicking the box of blood tablets that had fallen to the ground over to Zero, the metal tin spinning right in front of the other as it traveled across concrete. ]

Take them! Now!

[Instincts from forgotten memories had him grabbing the case and doing as he was told. ]

[ He could feel his breathing start to come down, his now pinkened skin from panting and screaming beginning to become white again. Mismatched eyes watched Zero carefully. He pulled his thumb from out of his mouth. It was throbbing in pain. ]

[ He didn't speak. Watanuki remained silent as he watched Zero down the strange white pills that had turned into blood in water. ]

[ He gulped them down, and felt the edges of madness begin to disperse leaving him drained and tired, but sane. Himself. He remained like this for a full minute until his eyes suddenly shifted to the god, cold in their assessment. ]

......

[ He knew. What he was, what the pills did. How they worked. What else did he know? What more had he seen?!

He stayed quiet knowing he would not tell him. What had he expected from one of them. Gods who kept them enslaved in the most cruelest way possible - denying them their very identity.

He stood. ]
