[Yuuki had been doing so well.

When she wakes up on the morning of the thirteenth, there's something different. Hajime will feel it as a sense of confusion and unease, though it has yet to progress to outright stinging. It's... strange. She remembers lush greens and a blue sky that seems to stretch forever, circling around a giant tree from which the world itself seems to spring. She remembers laughter, turning to the culprit and laughing herself in sheer bliss as she takes in the world. Between the six of them, they practically have a rainbow of wings... Siune, Jun, Tecchi, Talken, Nori. She knows their names, their races, the fact that they were her comrades. But...

That's it. Just a brief glimpse into what must have been her past. A beautiful world full of friendly faces that she can't quite reach out to grasp... One that she shouldn't.

And yet...]

We lose conventional memories, yes. Abilities, knowledge, these things remain. Shinki still knows how to wield a gun, or how to make their favourite dish, just without remember where and who taught them that.

That's the general theory at least. Even meeting someone a shinki knew in the past seems to not stir their memory.

[She’s surprised by the private message, but in hindsight, it does make sense. There’s… There’s something weird going on here. She still hasn’t decided if it’s wrong or not, but one way or another, she’ll have to sort it out.

Though at the same time… Is it okay to tell the others? Remembering their pasts… There could be a lot of shinki who would want such a thing. She doesn’t even know if it’s a good thing or not that she’s somehow recovered a memory of her own – is she in any position to possibly get the others’ hopes up regarding something that may well be a mistake, a mark of a bad shinki?

Still, she can’t keep him waiting for a reply forever.]

Something weird happened so I wanted to ask everybody about it to make sure.

Leave it to Yuto to notice. And since it’s Yuto, she can’t just lie to him, not as easily as she might with others. It takes a while for her to compose a reply, and even then it’s only after rewrite after rewrite.]

It’s just something weird that happened recently that’s all. I wondered if memories are really supposed to stay gone for good

And it's not something she intends to hide from Hajime, either, because that would definitely cause stinging. No, if she can tell Yuto, she can definitely tell Hajime.

Which is why, after a moment, she peers out of her room and begins wandering her way over to the kitchen. It's far too easy to read her, the way her steps don't have that confident stride, her pace short and timid. Even without being able to feel her emotions, it's clear enough just seeing her.]

If you mean 'remember things about from before we were shinki', no, I don't think so.

[It's a feeling like being rubbed the wrong way even just thinking about it.]

'Weird' seems to be the norm for you new gods and shinki, so the 'something weird' that happened to you might just be something having to do with that.
In which case, I'm sorry I can't help more.

When did this memory come back to you? Can you pinpoint the exact time it resurfaced? Also, how are you sure it's a memory vs a normal dream or hallucination constructed of fictitious imagery? Is there some specific detail about it that makes you certain of its legitimacy?
