[ When the video starts, it's on Souji specifically. He gives the camera a bit of a wave with the hand not holding his phone, his temple's open kitchen and dining area behind him. ]

Hello, everyone. I've been working on lists for study groups, and references for them as well as investigative notes, but I wanted to pose a different offer this time. Hence, why this post will have attachments in the form of photos rather than text this time.

[ Follow his trek, everyone, through the kitchen and under the free standing stairs, to one of his numerous tatami rooms that lead outside on the first floor. He's immediately greeted by a chorus of meows and chirps, any sort of noise a cat might make when pleased at a person, and that's where he comes to a stop. ]

I've been picking up stray cats, as well as cats from the shelter that were having a hard time finding families, and have been working on socializing them. All of them are in good health at the moment, have had all their vaccines and the like, and are fixed - except one, but more on her in a moment. You see, I've been hoping to find them permanent homes, either here or on the other Shore. Pretty much all of the ones I have are currently ready for that, so I was wondering if there was anyone that was maybe considering a cat for a companion.

Anyone that isn't homed is going to go up for adoption to the other Shore, but I figured you all could have first dibs.

If you just want to come and see them, you can do that, too. The aforementioned special cat is actually a new mother, so there are newborn kittens here now.

[ This is when he turns the phone around, camera focused on the cats around his feet. That's the end of the video!

As mentioned, there are pictures attached. What these cats look like are up to dealer's choice, if they wanted to adopt one or coo over one in particular, and Souji literally has enough variety that any picture would do.

... he also probably has enough cats for anybody that would want one. It's gotten to that point now. ]

All of them looks real nice, an' if I ain't had a lot'a cats around my temple already I'd have adopted some 'a them. What's this thing ya mentioned about vaccines though?

A vaccine helps mortal humans and animals build up immunity to certain diseases and illnesses. They sometimes require renewal, usually every six months to a year, just to strengthen the immunity.

I knowed a' there bein' a vaccine for smallpox an' cholera, but I ain't heard of there bein' any for animals or other diseases. Things sure change when ya ain't round t' see.

Science marches on, after all. They won't suffer from smallpox like we will, at least, but their own illnesses can be just as fatal for them as ours are to us. Shots are fairly inexpensive to keep up to date, though.

Yeah, seems that-a-ways. [ The gap of knowledge is so big, and for him it’s only a little over a hundred years difference. ] There any ways I can tell if the animals at my temple got shots? Specially the horses.

Mm... [ There's a pause as he thinks, looking obviously like he's putting a great deal of consideration into the question. ] I would wager that, since they're from the Far Shore, they should be okay? Heavenly influence, and all that. The cats specifically came from the Near Shore, so they're mortal and require the attention, whereas I would assume that anything of this place would have a sort of... blessing, maybe? That comes from being a part of your temple.

Some sort 'a Lord's Blessin' kind of Divine Protection, 's it... [ That was more of a mutter to himself, than actually to Souji. Butch has never believed in things like that (though he never told his family that). His whole upbringing and his own opinions already got overturned the moment he ended up in the other world, being an agnostic has not gotten get easier in this world. ] You think any animals born in a temple, if they're offspring'a Far Shore animals, would be the same?

[ Souji doesn't say anything, though he does catch it. After all, he can sort of understand - before he awakened as the Wild Card, he wouldn't have really believed much, either. Now he's here, and it rolls off him like water off a duck. But he does tilt his head a little with this second question. ] I would say so. If you wanted to double-check their health after they were born, they'd be easier to transport to the Near Shore to see a specialist than their parents - if you wanted to do something like that, if it were to happen, I'd be happy to help you.

[ He’s grateful for the subject not being pursued further. Near 43 years of not believing in anything supernatural and having that completely contradicted isn’t thought through in a day. ]

It would probably be that. Maybe, only ways I knowed horses bein' transported by train or by ridin’ or walkin’. I’d be mighty grateful for the help.

[ Everybody adjusts to this sort of thing at a different pace, and Souji's not interested in rushing anyone with it. It's a topic to keep in mind, of course, but it's also not something he's going to just bring up out of the blue. ]

Since we can teleport, I've been using that to transport cats to and from the vet. I imagine foals would be a little more difficult to manage, but with more than one person, not so much.

Tele..port? What’s that supposed’a be, exactly? It’s soundin’ like some convenient thing.

Ah, we have the ability to instantaneously transport ourselves from one location to another, which is referred to as teleportation. I can give you a demonstration, if you want?

That’s mighty impressive-soundin’, I’ll say. I’d appreciate it iffen ya did.

All right, let me just... [ Souji moves to set his phone down, carefully propping it up against - well, a cat tower, considering the room he's in. Some cats follow him in the process, but he gives the camera a thumbs up.

And then he disappears in a flicker of blue, reappearing across the room the same way. ]
