Why is the Internet like this?
I am highly disappointed in it.
Surely there is more to it than this.

Everyone can be much better than this.

Honestly.

And whoever told my god about these cellphones, I would like a word.

No. I am a Shinki. However, it is easy to determine that I was not in fact human while I lived.

[She sighs a bit irritably.]

I even have a name for my species, though I cannot say that it does me much good. In this world, this word appears only in made-up stories.

[She is somewhat reluctant to say it, but as long as she avoids any details which might be harmful, perhaps it's not a problem?]

My body. It is clearly not a human body, even disregarding the wings. And I think perhaps my mind is different too. I do not think or feel the way humans do - at least not easily.

[That last part is murmured rather softly, thoughtfully.]

I am an elf - though the stories told in this world have very little to do with what I am.

[ He pauses as he realizes what he's doing. ]

My apologies. I nearly -- there is no way to apologize for what I did. For us to think too much of who or what we were -- I should not have insisted that you tell me.

[ A beat. ]

Common knowledge tells me that elves do not have wings, and so I fear that my information would be of little use to you as well. But that is for the best, isn't it? It means that you need not ever fear of finding out something "true."

Your apology is accepted, though not necessary. [Her dismissive shrug registers only as a faint rustling.] I think the knowledge of what I am might be safe, provided I do not think too closely about... other things.

[About why she is as she is, mainly. What being an elf actually means.]

It doesn't interest me much. [A lie.] And I vastly prefer not to be human anyway. They are for the most part very easily swayed.

I see. [ He hums, and feels he should say more but he doesn't like saying something to say something. ]

It does appear to be that way. I have a belief that I am human yet -- hm, it is nothing. In any case, thank you for sharing that much with me.

You look like one, but do not feel like one?

To be fair, it's not an unusual human condition, that. It's easy to find the minds of those who feel like that. They... stand out, you could say. As if they're slightly more awake than human minds are in general.
