I've been wondering, is there any kind of stigma against a god and shinki flirting, or even dating? Not just any god and shinki, but like... a partnered pair. Or is that too weird, is it like getting hit on by your boss or something?

The whole 'god and weapon' relationship is still strange for me, and I'm trying to wrap my head around it, but I might be holding a torch for my partner. I'd just like to know if it's something I should pursue, or if I should attempt to put it down.

Well, for one, the power imbalance between yourself and your boss. If one doesn't want advances and it comes from a place of authority, you could feel pressured to give in for fear of losing your job.

I don't want my shinki to feel pressured like that. I'd prefer if they were willing without having to consider it coming from someone they have to answer to professionally.

Well, I'd probably get blighted if it's particularly messy, but I'm hoping it doesn't get particularly messy to begin with. I'd like to think we're both mature enough to break things off without getting so heated, should that happen.

Well I am, and that's why I'm asking. I don't want it to reflect poorly on my shinki's reputation, as they may be concerned about that, nor do I want them to be dishonest with me about their feelings due to my status.

I wouldn't think too hard on what the relationship between a god and shinki should be. Most of us are not the usual, so make of it what you will. I believe in that sort of freedom.

So naturally, a beautiful relationship shouldn't be held back from anything simply out of worry or stigma. Pursue your love wonderfully!

I do think of it more as a partnership than as the relationship between a worker and their boss, which is probably not how the older gods feel... I just wanted to be sure that it was okay first.

They're frowned upon usually. Having a relationship with your shinki can cloud your judgement. It can cause you to act irrationally were they in danger and vice versa. Thus we were discouraged from having intimate relations with them.

However, certain things can't be avoided sometimes.

That makes sense as well. Considering how we must take care of each other's emotional well-being, as well as our physical well-being.

Admittedly, my judgement is probably not the best to begin with. [Poor impulse control, you see.]

But it is also true that it may be unavoidable from time to time. You live with these people, you work with them and care for them. It may only be natural for you to develop feelings for them, and I have been told that repressing yourself isn't healthy.

Yes, I did hear that. The reasons are not completely off the wall either. It makes sense, but I too am somewhat selfish. If it works out, I'd rather pursue it, social stigma be damned.

Even if it doesn't, I'd rather have said I tried than waste away pining.

Well I believe that and you believe that, that doesn't mean everyone does, nor does it mean that's the intention.

I meant it more as an analogy for the possible awkwardness of a professional relationship and a possible romantic one.

If they're your own shinki, you already know more about them than they'll ever know about themselves. You have to keep things from them or risk losing them forever. The entire relationship between gods and shinki is already grounded in lies and deception, so why the hell would you want to make anything more out of it when that's all it'll ever be?

'Lies and deception' is it? I don't really feel that way, but I suppose that you're entitled to your opinion. Working within my limits, I am as honest as I can be, and honesty is rather important in this relationship as it is, considering the whole 'blight' deal.

I wasn't asking if it was a good idea, however, simply if it was a faux-pas, but after the opinion of many others, I'm fairly certain that I'm willing to overlook a faux-pas so long as my shinki is.

I'm not sure what would be the best answer to this. But I think you should discuss this with your shinki? So you can respect both of your feelings.

For all you know, they might feel something similar, and they don't know how to say it, or are too shy.

Well, I've never been the sort to be turned away from something because others disagree, but I do want to know the hardships awaiting before I propose those things to other people.
