Heaven's BBS [old man yelling on social media about social media]

There are too many nosy fuckers with nothing better to do. I can't look through here without tripping over too much information about your personal lives.

There are enough brats on here that someone has to say it. Knock it off already. It's a pain to scroll past, and you're just handing out ammunition to any half-literate asshole that wants to use your emotions as a weapon.

The rest of you: get a damn job or do something worthwhile instead. No one cares about your navel-gazing idiocy.

Your question, on face value, borders on a non sequitur. But on the assumption that you ask with some kernel seriousness:

'Social needs of a species' is, in this case too broad and too vague to be of use. We are not from the same worlds and in some cases not of a similar species. Therefore, assigning 'social needs' to a group of such disparate biological make-ups and social structures is fallacious on its face. Secondly, it fails on all levels to balance the actual needs of an individual.

Moving on from the faulty use of generalizations when dealing with needs of individuals, the context of this post and it's intent are simple. Broadcasting individual mental or emotional stress to veritable strangers is the equivalent of handing a clip full of ammunition to someone who may level the gun at you later. The Heavens, as we've seen, are not free of conflict. This technology system is easy to access -- meaning that those wishing to throw down the heavens now have information that could be easily used to subvert, coerce, or otherwise manipulate those broadcasting their distress into aiding that cause. And that's assuming that none of us brought here wouldn't pose a similar threat.

On a personal level, someone may feel a temporary comfort or high from strangers or passing acquaintances offering platitudes or validation.
[ Why in the hell anyone would find that comforting is baffling to him. ] However, those effects will be temporary and will likely fail to address the underlying causation. Ultimately, it gives a false sense of closure. In normal circumstances, this would likely not matter. When taken into context of what we are and what we are supposed to do, what happens when that sense of false sense of validation fails in the face of actual preparation and acquiring of knowledge and skill?

While I'm sure your sentiment of 'feelings are not weakness' works for a one off internet post or a stock card, it is flippant, vapid, and seems to assume that hugs instead of seeking to make oneself better and to overcome obstacles that inhibit ability is superior. Feelings are merely a gauge by which we choose what to do next; understanding them is not the same as pointless indulgence.

[What Kurama could say in response to this post: something about how, in his experience, convergent evolution towards or magical adoption of a humanoid form almost always correlates with certain requirements for social contact; how these needs can override the sensible need for caution even in dangerous situations; how even temporary comfort can better than no comfort at all for those learning to deal with a situation that may or may not be permanent.

What Kurama is going to say:]
