and the holy water itself is only good for getting rid of the blight caused by the ayakashi.

while it can be used to help a little with that kinda stinging feeling you get when it's blight-caused-by-a-shinki-to-their-god, it won't get rid of it. for that you'd need an ablution for the shinki

but okay an ablution is a type of purification ceremony. it's held to rid the shinki of the corruption they incurred when they blighted their god-- because it's not just the god that's blighted, really. the shinki, too, will have some kind of mark or deformity on their body because of it.

it's also very dangerous. if it doesn't work, the god is supposed to slay the shinki themselves. or the shinki could die in the process!! or so i've heard.

[ He hasn't spoken to his god nor has he stepped foot in their temple, so most of what he knows comes from his own investigation. This, however, is something he hasn't come across. He didn't even know a Blight could get that bad. Though, considering what had happened with his own sham of a purification, he now knew it wasn't Blight that ailed him, but something worse. ]

[ Because that he's asking has gotten her attention. ] upon death, you're not supposed to remember anything of your past life in the next life. i've never heard of a curse that could continue onto the next life to affect it, only the karma of what one did in the past life causing poor luck to happen in the next. but since the shinki here remember that they had lived once before, if not the specific details... i'm sorry, i don't know how that works.

How does it work?

well usually a curse is just specific for one person, so it won't transmit to others. but either way, all we'd have to do is be cautious about it, especially if it could be something from your past life.

but!! okay, okay, it flares up at different times. so that means it doesn't have to do with an actual time of day. that's a start. sooo--- let's see. i might need more information.

is it before or after you eat, if you eat at different times a day? is there a certain color within your vision, like blue or red or gold? does it happen on the near shore or the far shore? do you feel dizzy at all when it happens? a headache? blurred vision? chest pain? do you feel faint? do you feel a tingling sensation? have you looked in a mirror when it happens, and if so, what do you notice that's different? is there a extra shadow around you? or a glow? do your eyes change colors? do you grow any scales or fur?

anyway usually when a human has them, it's associated with a youkai of some type or an animal. sometimes a human's eyes might just change when they activate a certain type of ability or power, and it's nothing bad at all! other times eyes are the first to shift in a transformation. what kind of red eyes do you get? eyes that are slit like a cats? or maybe a goat's eyes? or a frog's? in animals, red eyes actually aren't that common, but they can be found in some snakes or frogs. so i'm thinking that maaaaybe yours has more to do with something more youkai-like.

Youkai. What are they?

'youkai' is a collective term for spirits, and they can be of all different types. occasionally they can be neutral beings, and i've worked with a few before. but generally they bring harm to humans either intentionally or by way of life, as in they eat humans like we eat chicken or fish. youkai can be beings who were once humans, and sometimes 'youkai' is used to refer to ghosts too. in my practice, i've mostly dealt with non-once-human youkai.

youkai isn't really meant to be confused with 'mononoke' or 'ayakashi' either, though. φ(￣￢￣ヾ) again, in my practice, a mononoke is a benign spirit of nature; it's more primal. ayakashi form from mononoke when ill intentions or spirit energy corrupt the mononoke, usually by a human. or an ayakashi can arise n its own simply from grudge or regret after the death of a human being when the human cannot pass on. the negative emotions corrupt the soul after death.

me? i can't on my own if they look pretty much human, otherwise i have to concentrate and use spells to identify them.

although if they reveal more of their true forms, like if they have a tail or horns, they're easier to identify. if we met, I could possibly figure out what you might be? ah, i mean if you are one ?
