Can Shinki get sick?
[ A seemingly simple question, but one that's been clawing at him for days. The symptoms have become too painful to ignore, so he bites his tongue and seeks answers because unknown to him, his bloodlust has begun to manifest. ]

Re: Private
i mean bad! i mean good that it's another lead! (」゚ロ゚)」
[ A moment later, her next reply will come: ] right so. eyes changing color in a curse isn't that uncommon, although it's usually associated with dips in consciousness, the feeling that you're being overcome with something negative, or a feeling of helplessness.... or conversely, the feeling that you've suddenly gained a whole lot of clarity or power
anyway usually when a human has them, it's associated with a youkai of some type or an animal. sometimes a human's eyes might just change when they activate a certain type of ability or power, and it's nothing bad at all! other times eyes are the first to shift in a transformation. what kind of red eyes do you get? eyes that are slit like a cats? or maybe a goat's eyes? or a frog's? in animals, red eyes actually aren't that common, but they can be found in some snakes or frogs. so i'm thinking that maaaaybe yours has more to do with something more youkai-like.
Private
His is instant and he reads over the text coming through to his device turning every possibility over in his mind, and in the end he is left with a single question: ]
Youkai. What are they?
Re: Private
youkai isn't really meant to be confused with 'mononoke' or 'ayakashi' either, though. φ( ̄¬ ̄ヾ) again, in my practice, a mononoke is a benign spirit of nature; it's more primal. ayakashi form from mononoke when ill intentions or spirit energy corrupt the mononoke, usually by a human. or an ayakashi can arise n its own simply from grudge or regret after the death of a human being when the human cannot pass on. the negative emotions corrupt the soul after death.
...although, mostly i'm explaining how it is in my world. it could be different here. (‘•̀ ▽ •́ )✎
i hope this is helping in some way...??
Private
Youkai... Is that what he was? Was he... from her world? The thought has him typing another message. ]
Can you tell them apart? The Youkai.
From regular humans?
[ He waits for her answer, the strain of it, fixing him to the spot. He needed to know. ]
Re: Private
although if they reveal more of their true forms, like if they have a tail or horns, they're easier to identify. if we met, I could possibly figure out what you might be? ah, i mean if you are one ?
Private
I can meet you where you want.
Re: Private
[ She's not quite nervous meeting him. Clearly, he sounds kind of scared and confused of whatever this may be. And honestly? He definitely doesn't sound like he wants to hurt anyone, in addition to wanting to be private.
So she adds to reassure him: ] it goes without saying that... i promise that i won't reveal anything to anyone else, not without your permission, zero. you can count on that!
Private
[ He's suddenly silent on his end. He'd refused to go to another god's temple ever since arriving. This god. Whoever she was, he didn't want to be at her mercy, yet by accepting her help that was exactly what he was doing, yet the idea of stepping into another god's temple after his own god had ignored him... ]
I'll meet you outside.
[ It was the best compromise he could make. ]
Re: Private -- action
[ Sanae will be just outside her temple, underneath the torii while waiting for him. In her hand is a small bag of supplies, items just in case she needs a little extra aid in figuring out what he is, or dispelling certain curses. ] Zero..! [ She welcomes pleasantly, smiling and stepping up to him. ] I'm glad you've come, and it's nice to see you in person again.
[ She is observing him, of course, to see if he's changed since she last saw him. ]
action
Thank you. For seeing me.
[ Rare words of gratitude, but he means them sincerely. Zero isn't prone to seeking help so when he does... he's grateful to those who answer. ]

[ Whatever is most comfortable for him, she'll be okay with it. But she offers a shy, awkward smile. ] It, ah, just seems strange to be standing at the entrance, that's all.

I don't like temples.
[ An odd statement for a shinki but a truthful one. ]
I prefer to stay out here, if possible.
no subject
[ Wow Mr. Difficult to Please here. ]Alright..! [ Fair enough. She won't force him. ] Although, I'm sure you'd like some privacy, no? [ He seems like a very private person. ]
There's some hills and a nice garden-like area a little over that way.

Lead the way.

[ It must be difficult for him, to not understand what these symptoms must mean. She's here to help find out, although whether she succeeds or not is still unknown. ] ...I was thinking about how to proceed in the time it took for you to come here. And I think that the best starting point is... you hand. [ She places the bag on the soft grass and then extends both of her hands out to him. ] As a miko, I can read fortunes and fates. [ At least the ones in her world can. ] While it won't give me a specific glimpse into your past, it can provide an indirect story of it, as well as what these symptoms may bring in the future.
If you don't want to do this, that's fine! However, we do need to begin somewhere.
[ OOC: if he agrees, whether this works or not is up to you! ]

.....................
Snow.
It fell gently on her skin leaving behind a whisper of warmth. The god was suddenly transported to a world of phantasm hidden in the dark recess of his mind. Before her, a trail of old footprints steer her toward a dark forest where no light passes through. Should she choose to follow where it leads, she will find a steel gun covered in blood marking the entrance of the forest. If she moves to touch it a memory will suddenly burst into full glory.
A heart beat rapidly in his chest. He was running, chasing after a figure in the dark. He ran headlong through the streets tracking the echo of insanity smeared across the wind and when he caught sight of the human figure he pulled out the gun. The shadowy figure laughed and he--you--pulled the trigger and a sharp cry filled the air as the bullet slammed through flesh and you smiled, an acrid smile filled with the same taint of insanity.
The gun suddenly slips from your grasp the blood making it too slippery to hold onto and when it hits the ground the white snow turns red.]
You shouldn't touch that.
[ A figure steps out of the forest, looking like Zero but with slightly longer hair. ]
Who are you?
no subject
To be shown a memory so clearly-- it could only mean it was a source of turmoil for the young man, for this is not the usual par of the course. She suddenly feels as if she's invading in a space that hardly anyone else has stepped into, or perhaps should step into. Those old foot prints should be the only ones leading into that forest, but she follows them anyway, and indeed does find the gun and the memories it contains.
It's staggering to see its contents, to feel that finger pulling back to click the trigger in place through his memories, to have the weapon fire. She doesn't quite understand what at all that is happening, however, because it's a whirl of emotions and blood and tragedy.
She looks up abruptly when the new figure calls out, a flash of worry coming across her face. ] Zero...? [ She murmurs at first, but then corrects herself, withdrawing partially. The real Zero in front of her may see that her fingers are curling back slightly from his hand, although she stills herself. ] No-- someone else. [ Someone who only looks like him. ]
1/2
Is something wrong?
[ Worry begins to spread and he loosens his hold on her and instead of clasping her hands, he lets them sit on the palm of his open hand so that she could pull away with ease. ]
2/2
You know it's rude to invade someone's heart.
[ He sets his hand on the tree and it lights up at his touch throwing light around them. ]
You don't belong here. I suggest you leave.
no subject
And... she feels as if she's playing with fire, delving into this sort of memory-space. ] Wait. [ She protests, but only this time. ] My name is Sanae. Who are you? I'm only trying to figure out what curse he may be under--
no subject
[ He smiles, pleased by that question. ]
I'm his heart.
[ He's about to add something else when her question has his smile falling. ]
It's not a curse.
no subject
It should put her on guard, but it doesn't. She doesn't have time for his games, she only wants to help Zero. So she gets right to the point: ] ...Then what is it?
no subject
[ He lets go of the tree and it stops glowing throwing them back in darkness, say for the moonlight streaming down. The figure smiles at her, and slips behind the tree disappearing from view before stepping out the other side. ]
You can't help.
[ He lifts his gaze, looking back up at her, and suddenly he's raising a gun - the same gun! - and pointing it at her. ]
I don't like sharing.
no subject
And I will help. [ This part of him is something like a defense mechanism, she guesses. ] You want to protect Zero. [ She sympathizes. ] I do too. Please-- don't be afraid of letting others into your heart...
1/2
[ He shoots her. ]
That's my line.
