Does anyone have any experience with the care of small, white dragons? What foods do they prefer?
What is the best way to determine their mood: head movements? Wings? Tail? Vocalizations?
Specifically, how can you tell when they are about to bite?
[Not that he's failed to tell he was about to be bitten a few times already. Of course not.
There is a picture of a small, snaky-bodied white dragon with a ruff running all the way down its long neck attached. In the picture, the dragon is flaring its wings over a plate of raw hamburger with a look of serious annoyance and its mouth wide open in a silent kyuuuu!]

And he's turning into a jeep.]
Ah, so that's why he's taken so well to Jeep. Welcome to the family, Jeep!
[She's talking to a car. Why is this the thing that she thinks is strangest out of everything she's witnessed so far in the past few years?]
Does he drive himself?

[The car backs up a few feet and the engine rumbles. Hakkai blinks.]
... yes. Apparently he can.

I was going to offer to drive, but it looks like that's all taken care of. There must be some books about dragons in the library. About cars, too.
[Or jeeps, more to the point.]

[The idea seems comfortable to him; letting someone else drive, well. That would just be... odd.
If it were her car instead of his dragon he might reconsider the matter, of course.]

...definitely not from ancient China, then. Maybe from some... weird sort of... no. It doesn't matter. It's not worth puzzling over.]
Maybe you can practice around the temple for a bit before you decide to take Jeep out somewhere else.
[Somewhere with people. Or animals. Or plants.
Or anything.]

[Is that an order, Elsa.]
disregard icon keywords, take only the dramatic-ness from it
I would be more comfortable with you having a car if I could see you practice once or twice with it before you head out.

Ah, I think calling him a car is a little rude, don't you? Jeep?
[The jeep's engine is rumbling away as apparently placidly as ever. Hakkai steps a little closer to it and pats the hood in a possessive way.]

But they've talked about that, haven't they. She agreed to work on learning to trust him more. This is a prime, arguably safer opportunity to do just that. Besides, surely Jeep will transform back to his dragon form if there were going to be an accident, right?]
You're right. [Elsa gives, shrugging.] I trust you to be careful and to take care of yourself and Jeep.

[He relents: she doesn't have any reason to think he'll be a good driver, and in fact he doesn't have any evidence himself, other than a sense of confidence in the skill.
Which is the same way he felt about cooking and fighting, so he suspects he is good at it.]
If you'd like to go on a drive sometime, I think I could talk Jeep into it.

Does everything have the possibility of being alive, in Takamagahara?]
Thank you, I'll keep that offer in mind. Right now I need to get back to my lesson plans. I'll see you at dinner?
no subject
[That's not exactly a "yes," but Hakkai supposes she'll relax about the idea of his driving at some point. He smiles as the jeep shudders with a piercing cheep and becomes a dragon again, winging over to his shoulder.]
