Our current system could use improvements.

For that reason, I'm looking into two prospective methods:
— An ayakashi detection network
— An emergency contact system

I think it's worthwhile to see if those with mechanical and programming skill could create a network of monitoring devices that specifically respond to an ayakashi's darkness. This would enable us to detect them sooner and dispatch them more efficiently.

And this system would be used in conjunction with an automatic forwarding system. A message concerning detected ayakashi and location(s) would be sent out to any volunteers on a mailing list.

In addition to this, the emergency contact system could be used by gods or shinki to notify others when they're in need of assistance. Anyone who volunteers to be respondents on that system will have messages automatically forwarded to them, so they can assist in handling threats.

If anyone is interested in making this work, respond with relevant skills and what aspect you want to participate in. In my case, I can Hold the Fort but I can't Kill Ayakashi. I have knowledge of Coding, but not Mechanics.

[ooc: In response to a whole mess that resulted in needing to name a shinki to save him from being consumed and the blightstorm that followed, he's of the impression that certain provisions should be made to avoid the necessity of such last-ditch options.

Also! Please feel free to thread hop/jack! By all means coordinate efforts with folks of similar skills/abilities or heckle each other. Hoping this gives people something to play with]

HAH good luck with that plan. Devices like that would take awhile to make.

There's a faster way to create a program that's similar to it though. It wouldn't be as accurate, but hey I already have most of the prep work done since I already made a system like it once before.

So you're familiar with this sort of innovation...I thought it might just be me and Sora. What would the primary differences be, if it's a program?

Do we have an access to technology capable of detecting ayakashi? My own scanners have been very not trustworthy about it. I sometimes get notified about objects moving with high speed from them, but they don't come out on most of basic scans. Their temperature must be close to the one of their surroundings, effectively masking them.

If we can use abilities as a basis, I can sense concentrations of darkness. I'm aware of a similar technology that was in use in one world, so it should be possible to emulate that system here with the right resources.

The second part is a piece of cake. Children around here could rig something like that up in an hour.

In theory the first part isn't that difficult either but we'd need something to measure or some feature that could be tracked by this device and then have a way of turning it into usable data.

Mechanics is the fun part though so you can count me in for that.

Agreed. I'm honestly surprised it doesn't already exist, but I think in conjunction with detecting ayakashi, it'd gain more efficacy. You're right that we'll need to follow a process, once we've got an idea of who and what we've got to work with.

A means to alert those willing to come help in battle is at least a start.

None of them are. I can still cause status ailments with some of my abilities, so I can keep larger ayakashi occupied, but no lethal damage.

I still think it's too much of a hassle. People should take responsibility for themselves instead of relying on some network to save them. [again, ignoring how he had to be rescued several times last week...]

But a monitoring network sounds interesting, so I guess I can provide some assistance.

Once it's set up, I bet it'd be simple enough to maintain. There are a lot of things here that could stand to run more efficiently.

It's fine if you can't remember details from your past, but give me an example of something you know you can make. This isn't a job for amateurs.

I have offensive and defensive powers independent of my shinki, and a passing familiarity with principles of adapting technology for spiritual purposes, so I can assist with both parts of the project as necessary.

That's a versatile skillset. One guy volunteered to help coordinate emergency contact arrangements, and there are a few who have mentioned technical skills, so collaboration should be possible.

If you can destroy them all on your own, have at it.

But with a detection system in place, you might just be alerted to more "prey" than your own abilities allow for. Unless you're saying your range is unlimited.

It appears you need possession of or to be a Shinki to actually kill an Ayakashi. I have experience in hunting monsters, but my magic seems only able to weaken them.

I am attempting to follow up on some other leads such as sealing them away, but that would be a temporary solution at best.

Nonetheless, I am more than willing to offer my skills.

Right, my shinki aren't weapons. I can handle small-fry, but other than that, I can just keep them busy until someone else comes in to deal lethal damage.

Is this to say your shinki's not a weapon either?

I was just wondering why the hell something like this wasn't already set up. I can't help with making it, but I'm willing to be a respondent for emergency contact if it gets done.

Though I have to ask how you're planning to detect ayakashi at all.

There are some of us who can sense the darkness associated with ayakashi. Using that as a basis, we should be able to create something that does the same. It's been done in at least one world.

I'm not sure how the first point would work but the second should be easy enough. It's just email so it's easier to let people self-manage by subscribing or unsubscribing, I think.

It's a good idea, either way. I can kill Ayakashi but I can also sense them, if I'm in vessel form.

Yeah, I think the mass messaging system will be simple, once volunteers are signed up. As for the system itself, it'll take work, but I'm aware of similar having been achieved before.
