[After making sure that Hibiki is otherwise preoccupied for.... reasons, Wendy takes to the network. Her childish face is clearly strained as she tries to keep a hold of some composure. But this has been bugging her for a while now, and she can't hold back.]

Okay, how many people here really believe that a shinki going nora is some sort of huge sin or personal failing? Relatedly, how stupid are you?

And not related at all, does anyone have any good curses or insults?

[Luna's soulless shinki was very thorough in explaining things to her when she first arrived, thankfully.]

Oh... I'm sorry, that must have been terrible.

[She frowns, genuinely concerned. There's nothing she could have done about it, since that must have happened before she arrived, but she still feels terrible that any shinki would have to go through that. Especially one as sweet as she's seen Wendy to be.]

Yes, it's dangerous for a shinki to be out on their own. I've heard that about the old gods and their shinki as well, but I can't say I agree. As long as everyone involved knows about it and is all right with it, I don't see why becoming a nora should be an issue.

Exactly! Thinking like that…. They’re so out of touch and not thinking about what other people have to deal with!

[She’s not sure why this thing is getting her so worked up… But it’s gotten under her skin, it really has, and Wendy sighs as she rests her cheek in her hand.]

Us shinki don’t really get any choice at all the second we get here, and in one of the few times we try, we’re judged for it.

I'm sure it's all tied up in the idea of divided loyalties and the problems that come with that.

[Luna has, of course, considered this from both sides.]

But I still don't think it's anything that can't be worked out between everyone involved.

[There's a short pause as Luna studies Wendy's expression.]

...Are you looking for another god so that doesn't happen to you again, Wendy?

Yeah.

[What? She’s not going to lie about something so obvious. Clearly this is something she’s been thinking about if she’s bringing it up on the BBS. Still, after a moment, she sighs.]

I mean, sort of. My first god just… disappeared one day. By then, someone had already told me that shinki without gods get eaten by ayakashi eventually, but I didn’t have any idea who I could ask to be my new god. I finally chose someone- and they’re great, really, but what if that kind of thing happens again?

I know it’s selfish to say it’s a back up plan, but if there’s a time for someone to be selfish, isn’t it when their life is on the line?

It's not selfish at all. Anyone would be afraid for their life.

[Luna can certainly sympathize with feeling that way. Her duties as Oracle placed her into danger almost constantly, and she had to face them alone. It's not something she'd wish on anyone.]

If it would help you to feel better, I'd be willing to give you a name if your new god is all right with it. And if something happens to her, you'll have a place to stay at Raphael's cathedral.

[That has Wendy jolting up, blinking in surprise.]

Really? Are you sure? I mean, we’ve only known each other for a little while. Do you want to go on- I don’t know, I suppose you’d call them outtings, first?

I don't mind if you and your god don't. But if you'd like to get to know each other better first, that's all right too. There have to be some prayers we can answer together without having to fight ayakashi.

That sounds good! There’s a festival or something coming up, right? We can even meet up there. My god is going to do a big event, actually, so it’d be a great time for you two to meet- that way everyone knows what’s going on. I’ll mention this to her too, obviously, but having you meet in person might be good too.
