I have a sneaking suspicion I could find the answer to this by going through the archives, but let's give me the benefit of the doubt and say I want to be as accurate as possible and allow for new people's responses, or else opinions evolving over time... any shinki out there who wish they were gods? Or the reverse, gods who wish they were shinki? Why do you think you got the better and/or worse deal?

Devil's advocates welcome; I may indulge in it a bit myself.

Are there many shinki who are alright with staying the way they are? I... Don't mind a lot of what comes with being a shinki, but... [She trails off, chewing on her bottom lip anxious before she continues]

But I'd like to know why I act the way I do, or why I have the feelings I do about things. It's easy to just not think about it, but it's frustrating, a little, that we can't think about it either.

It's not that so much. I'm used to it. My role back home wasn't that much different, you know?But it can be exhausting. Being immortal, being a god-- It can be tough. Everyone's eyes are on you, everyone's watching and waiting for you to slip up, so you have to be perfect. You can't give people a reason to fear or doubt you, you have to be a symbol and something for them to believe in. It's a lot of responsibility!

But, in this world, Shinki definitely have a worse deal. I'd feel bad putting so much responsibility on someone if I switched with them, but as a shinki I could still do my best to support them. That's why shinki are so important to us gods!

Well and for other reasons to of course. (*^ω^)

Well, among my shinki delegation here, I have largely content, wondering why I'm asking such a stupid question, and harassing me to do more ayakashi-fighting with him.

Something like that. It's a little...strange. I know what I want to do, and I know how to do some things. It's like...I know the 'how' but not the 'why.' And a lot of the 'how' I don't particularly like... I don't know why I'm like this, or if it's possible to change, or if I should try to change. If I'm like this, it must be for a reason.

Ayakashi certainly are the most common threat we see.

I don't think so. Not for me, anyway. If I didn't remember, I'd have questions, and that would make it harder to let go of.

I don't feel that I have it any better or worse than someone else, but I don't know that I'd want to change what I am. I'd probably make a terrible shinki.

Well, shinki have exactly one plausible finishing point, don't they? If they regain a memory, and then another, and then another... what else is there for them to become?

I've gotten that one before. It seems to be a very specific mental skill set, being a shinki.

[And actually be interested in the answer. He hadn't commented on Jae-Ha's earlier memory post mainly because there was absolutely nothing positive that would come out of it and he didn't feel like inflicting any more negativity on him, but he actually did not want to see what would happen to Kija if something happened to Jae-Ha.]

I think that's a healthy answer. Pretty equally split between now and before. Very human.
