I have a friend in this situation. She loves this guy, but there was a long time where she wasn't sure about him. She thought he was lying to her all the time, all his friends are jerks to her, and it's hard. Now she thinks that he might be an okay guy, and she says that she loves him, but how can she trust somebody who she didn't trust for so long?
[ Hmm. Shiro has to think about that for a while. ]
It sounds like a complicated situation, to say the least. But I'm not your friend, and your friend isn't me. Love is different for everyone--just because I have an opinion of it doesn't mean it's the only, or the right, opinion. If she loves him, then she loves him. And trust isn't so cut and dry; it's possible to build trust with someone even if it wasn't initially there. Are you worried about your friend?

I can only speak for myself, but it's always been what I find the most comfort in.

If there's no mutual trust, it would be difficult to open up, in any way, to the other person.

He needs to prove that he's not a jerk any more, but how would he do that?
