So here's a question for all of you.

Say sometime in the future, a way home pops up. The stars are right, or the prayers of the world unite, or we find whatever brings us here and reverse it. Doesn't matter what, the key thing is that it won't last. You've got to decide right away. What do you do?

If you're a shinki, going home means you're dead. No more life like this that you can expect. Is it worth the gamble? What if you get stuck as a shinki in your own world, not remembering anything, no other shinki or gods? On the other hand, you stay here and you get stuck with whoever's left if your god takes off. Maybe they all do and you're off to the old gods, or unnamed. Either one's a raw deal.

Gods? You got it easy. You go back and pick up where you left off. Except you'd be leaving your shinki behind. No promise on what happens to them. Maybe they'll end up with someone okay, maybe not. Maybe even if you made an arrangement with someone who'd stay, it goes wrong. Do you just abandon them? Trust that the old gods won't be so bad?

Not saying it's going to work out this way. But it might. So what if?

Other way around. I'd never stay. For me, better to die free than live as someone's property.

Just another step, I guess. You die, you move on. You die again... maybe you move on again. Maybe there's a Farther Shore waiting for us.

i thought that way for awhile. this place really sucks, but theres some good parts too. if i died i wouldnt have those any more.

its not easy but im trying to think that way.

I don't agree with that. But maybe it's a better way of thinking than mine, I'll give you that. It's definitely a happier one.

Oh, right. I'm, not sure you can stop that, but maybe you can. And maybe there's a way to make it not so bad.

i think theres always going to be shinki in this world, but the shinki who come from this world are different. those of us who remember other worlds, we arent supposed to be here. we can remember things, we can die and come back as gods sometimes, or the other way around. were here because somebody wanted us here and i want to find out whos to blame.

Isn't it possible the system just broke? Something went wrong somewhere? Seems to me like if someone wanted us here, they would've said or done something by now, not just left us hanging for... how long have people been here?

sure i guess, but i think it was on purpose. maybe they didnt pick each one of us on purpose, but us being here from outside this world was definitely part of the plan.

we dont know anything about about being gods or shinki right? so were bumbling around making all kinds of messes and keeping amaterasu busy just running the place. whoever killed her probably brought us in to keep her busy and make sure that she didnt have all the old gods here to defend her. then they tried to use a bunch of us to do some ritual with, and that was all new gods and shinki, not any of the old ones.

this place runs on magic, and theres different magic for us, in us or around us or whatever, than there is for the old gods and their shinki.

So you're saying someone wanted to break the machine, and is just pitching whatever wrenches they can find into it?

But it hasn't broken yet. That's the part I can't figure out. If we're so much trouble for it, why's it still all more or less working?

how do you know its still working right? amaterasu is a kid, shinki are getting their memories back, people disappear and come back as gods, every time theres a festival everyone goes nuts. this place isnt working right at all.

But only us newcomers, right? I haven't heard anyone say any of the other gods or shinki are having these problems. I think they'd be going crazy if they were. So it's more like WE don't fit.
