This is Genos. Shinki to slavic god of hospitality, Radegast. If possible, I request assistance from those more experienced in workings of the Far Shore.

Today I've returned to my god's temple, with an uninvited guest.

[ A short video attachment, shows Genos chin down, with his shirt rolled high up, almost to the collarbone. That's it if he even had visible collarbones. The hatch on his chest is open, and in the cavity, among all the machinery, right next to the glowing blue orb, lies a kitten. Fur disheveled, and it seems to have hurt leg, but aside from that it's a normal, albeit homeless, kitten. It wakes up, blinks owlishly to the camera, yawns, and goes back to sleep, snuggling comfortably. ]


Should I assume I've been interacting with a ghost-cat from the start? It could see me, and tried to make me pay attention to it. Which is unlikely other inhabitants of the Near Shore.

However if it's not a ghost, would the travel to the Far Shore hurt it? Is there any official protocol on giving a temporary shelter to such Near Shore creatures?

I guess two? Maybe tree. Depends on size of the cats.

Is that taking into account the animals' physical comfort and the possibility of overheating? How long would you be able to maintain that state?

Animals seem to be able to see us without any difficulty based on my experiments, [read: petting random cats until some asshole living person walks over and gets in his way] so it's likely just a normal cat. Transportation to the Far Shore doesn't seem to affect them negatively. There's a cat currently dwelling in Chang'e's temple as well.

I understand. However in its current state, it can't be released in the wild either.

How could I know? I'm not transporting multiple cats on daily basis. Nor do I intend to.

Rest assured. This particular stray is in no danger, neither it poses a risk of overheating for me.

Anyway, wouldn't it be fitting for the god of hospitality to offer shelter to a stray? But if you don't want it, I'll gladly take it off your hands.

I gave you an "educated guess" in my first reply.

And you got it all wrong. I do not intend to let it go, at least until it heals and can fend for itself. But I do think it would be good to know if prolonged exposure to the Far Shore could bring it any harm.

I haven't yet thought about the name. [ Ignoring even the fact that Saitama said they're not keeping it. ]

But I do plan to make sur, it can hold its own ground in a fight. [ so other mean cats won't kick its fuzzy butt ]

Of course not! But it is now a resident of the spirit world, which means its clearly no ordinary cat. Oh! Do you think its tail will split as it grows older? Maybe it will become a Nekomata! Maybe you should go with Nekomata no Neko instead!

Nekomata has a nice sound to it. [ It also vaguely rings a bell, gotta make more in-depth research on the folklore ]

But wouldn't such thing happening meant it become an ayakashi?

I wouldn't think so. Ayakashi are malevolent spirits that feed on the darkness in people's hearts. A nekomata is merely a cat who has lived a long life and surpassed mortal capabilities. Some have been tasked with protecting a treasure or secret, and gained power through their diligence and dedication! And some are tricksters and some are evil, but the same could be said for cat, human, shinki, and deity alike.

Now it has even better sound to it.
