This is Genos. Shinki to slavic god of hospitality, Radegast. If possible, I request assistance from those more experienced in workings of the Far Shore.

Today I've returned to my god's temple, with an uninvited guest.

[ A short video attachment, shows Genos chin down, with his shirt rolled high up, almost to the collarbone. That's it if he even had visible collarbones. The hatch on his chest is open, and in the cavity, among all the machinery, right next to the glowing blue orb, lies a kitten. Fur disheveled, and it seems to have hurt leg, but aside from that it's a normal, albeit homeless, kitten. It wakes up, blinks owlishly to the camera, yawns, and goes back to sleep, snuggling comfortably. ]


Should I assume I've been interacting with a ghost-cat from the start? It could see me, and tried to make me pay attention to it. Which is unlikely other inhabitants of the Near Shore.

However if it's not a ghost, would the travel to the Far Shore hurt it? Is there any official protocol on giving a temporary shelter to such Near Shore creatures?

I know! You should name it Bakeneko no Neko! You can call it Neko-chan for short! 8D

Ghost-cat... are you suggesting its dead?

Of course not! But it is now a resident of the spirit world, which means its clearly no ordinary cat. Oh! Do you think its tail will split as it grows older? Maybe it will become a Nekomata! Maybe you should go with Nekomata no Neko instead!

Nekomata has a nice sound to it. [ It also vaguely rings a bell, gotta make more in-depth research on the folklore ]

But wouldn't such thing happening meant it become an ayakashi?

I wouldn't think so. Ayakashi are malevolent spirits that feed on the darkness in people's hearts. A nekomata is merely a cat who has lived a long life and surpassed mortal capabilities. Some have been tasked with protecting a treasure or secret, and gained power through their diligence and dedication! And some are tricksters and some are evil, but the same could be said for cat, human, shinki, and deity alike.

[ so it lived long enough to become a possibly helpful spirit. that's... kind of cute. And admirable in a way. ]

Now it has even better sound to it.

[ This is the longest they talked without resorting to insults, yelling or trolling. Though Genos is not entirely sure about that last part, he's willing to give benefit of doubt. ]

Are you speaking from your own experience?

Something like that. Oh! Can I come pet it? I promise I will be on my best behavior and not start anything, I swear!

I know! I only want to play with it a bit. Gently, since it's obviously injured.

I'll bring cat food and litter supplies.

Hnm. I guess it's not scared of people. [ It literally climbed upon his leg. But then he's not that much of a "people". Still that bribe is super effective ]

Do you know anything about first-aid?

[mybadhabit]

For humans, most certainly. [not only does he do his own stunts, he fixes himself up afterwards, too] A veterinarian may be better for the cat, but I can at least make sure the wound heals properly and doesn't get infected.

That should be enough. The injury doesn't seem that bad, as the little thing is pretty lively.

Okay. Do you have a first aid kit, or do I need to bring that too?

The kit itself is covered.
