This is Genos. Shinki to slavic god of hospitality, Radegast. If possible, I request assistance from those more experienced in workings of the Far Shore.

Today I've returned to my god's temple, with an uninvited guest.

[ A short video attachment, shows Genos chin down, with his shirt rolled high up, almost to the collarbone. That's it if he even had visible collarbones. The hatch on his chest is open, and in the cavity, among all the machinery, right next to the glowing blue orb, lies a kitten. Fur disheveled, and it seems to have hurt leg, but aside from that it's a normal, albeit homeless, kitten. It wakes up, blinks owlishly to the camera, yawns, and goes back to sleep, snuggling comfortably. ]


Should I assume I've been interacting with a ghost-cat from the start? It could see me, and tried to make me pay attention to it. Which is unlikely other inhabitants of the Near Shore.

However if it's not a ghost, would the travel to the Far Shore hurt it? Is there any official protocol on giving a temporary shelter to such Near Shore creatures?

That's easy, keke. Calamity is the perfect name for a cat, so pick that one.

It has a nice ring to it. [ And is softer than say, Destroyer. Dark and edgy names are pretty much a thing for punk-cyborg ] But I'd like to see first more of personality this feline might have.

A fair point. Perhaps a different name might be more suitable for it, based on how it chooses to assert itself. Something like Raze, Marauder, Decimation...

Alternatively Shadowclaw or Interceptor.

Or Devourer, or Regent... or Conqueror! That one has a pleasant ring to it, don't you think?

Ah, but if something composed of two words such as Shadowclaw works, then that opens up a much larger variety of options. A poll might be a good idea after all.

Hm, that's true as well... if we tried to put every possibility up as an option, it may become too difficult to choose.

Maybe! We could set up multiple polls or a poll allowing multiple options with each option being a single word. After those polls have closed, we would take the top 5 to 10 words and combine them, then hold a second vote to choose which combination is superior. If the combinations are still too many, we could hold them in rounds and narrow down the final pool of names each time until we have a more reasonable selection to choose from, having passed through multiple tests of quality to ensure that only the best names proceed to the very end. What do you think?

It could give combinations like Regent Noir, or Conqueror Motoki. Or even more unique ones.

I like how you think. The quality control seems especially on point, given the situation.

13 possible name components so far. That would give us... 78 two-part names, or 286 three-part names.

We'll certainly need to narrow down the options first. This could take some time to process...

Most of those combinations won't even be usable. It will take time to weed out the unfit names.

Then we should get started on this right away. I have some other projects that I need to attend to as well, but for something like this I can put aside some time to assist with it. [cat naming is serious fucking business]

I'll send you a file with 78 combinations. This will be more efficient to work through than 286. Three-part names might be too long anyway.

Agreed, three-parts should only be used if our two-part options end up being too difficult to choose from so we can combine two good choices into a single excellent one. Anyway, it would take too long to go through 286 options.

If we work on this separately then compare our personal results, we might be able to finish this more quickly by picking from whichever choices match. I'll let you know as soon as I have any updates.

I'm surprised you'd pick something like Motoki Conqueror. Motoki sounds more like a given name, so putting it before a descriptive word sounds too strange. It makes it sound like they're "conqueror of Motoki". That doesn't work since there's currently no one named Motoki for that to refer to.

I disliked it a bit at first, but Motoki doesn't actually sound too bad... [It's a cute name, like May... it just needed a little something to give it a proper edge.]
