Hello, everyone. It's been a while since I've made an announcement like this, but I'm afraid I've been a little busy lately. I hadn't intended to stop taking clothing commissions, but I've been training with Lady Orihime over the past few weeks to learn more about creating divine raiments and it's been taking up most of my free time. I've finished my first major project, though, so I've got a little more flexibility lately.

I still won't be taking commission work until I've finished my training, but I do have enough time to open the temple up for beauty treatments. The pools in the garden behind the temple have healing properties and help keep skin soft, and I can also do hair and nail work for anyone who's interested. In addition, I'll be teaching a sewing class once a week at Hakkai's school. And once Lady Orihime is satisfied with my progress, I'll be able to start making clothing again too. So if anyone is interested in any of that, feel free to let me know and we can either set up an appointment at Lakshmi's temple or get you enrolled at the school.

[Forrest smiles, nodding at the feed.]

[Maria is perfectly fine with that, given the length of her name. With a nod, she falls into step behind him and lets him lead her to the back of the temple.]

I appreciate it. I've been meaning to have it done on the Near Shore, but it's hard to trust they'll get it right when they might forget I'm there halfway through a session. And it really is hard to do yourself unless you're good enough with both hands to pull it off.

That's part of why I decided to start doing this here. Aside from simply enjoying helping people to look their best, of course.

[And since money isn't hard to come by for a substitute wealth goddess, he doesn't even have to charge.]

Well, you can sit back and relax and I'll take care of everything. Did you want just your fingernails, or toenails as well?

It's good of you to offer it. I wasn't expecting an opportunity like this to come up at such a good time, and it must keep you very busy.

[With this sort of thing and commissioned clothing on top, she can't imagine Forrest finds himself with a great deal of free time.]

[Forrest smiles, leading her into the back room. There are a lot of pillows all around, but also a small table with his beauty supplies and two chairs for them to use, along with a foot bath in front of one of the chairs.]

Here we are. Have a seat. You can soak your feet while I work on your fingernails. The water is infused with amrita.

[Once he offers her to sit down, Maria does so with an appreciative smile.] Thank you. And I'm afraid I haven't heard of amrita - is it an unusual ingredient for a soak?

{Maria is better brushed up on mythology than some others here, but she hasn't come across that particular term, as is probably obvious. Nonetheless, she dips her toes and then the rest of her feet delicately into the foot bath.]

It's certainly a rare one, at least.

[Forrest smiles as he sets to work filing Maria's fingernails before putting on the base coat.]

Amrita is a sort of 'nectar of the gods' similar to ambrosia. It's sacred to the Hindu pantheon, and is the source of their immortality.

[There's a small laugh as he looks down at the water she's soaking in.]

I'm afraid without the real Lakshmi here it's lost its full potency, but it's still more than enough to help cleanse mild blight and keep your skin youthful and soft.

[Maria seems quite relaxed and familiar with the setup, allowing him to move her fingers as he needs to get the work done. It's nice to get back to something like this after so long.

She definitely seems interested in the explanation about amrita, and she glances down to the foot bath with an appreciative sound.]

It feels wonderful, so I trust that it can do that much. I hadn't heard that legend before - this place always has me feeling like I need to do a bit more reading on mythology.

It seems like almost every pantheon has something like that - a source of immortality for the gods. I think there was a post about it on the bulletin board a few days ago.

[It all goes pretty quickly, considering Maria's familiarity with the process and all the practice Forrest has put in. And once the base coat is done, he gives her nails some time to dry.]

There. If you'd like, I can put the base coat on your toes while we wait for your fingernails to dry.

Yes, I saw that, though in Celtic mythology it seems to be the dwelling of the gods that's the source of their immortality, at least in part. So as the representative of a Celtic god, I didn't have much to add.

[There's a bit of an awkward laugh at that. It really is a shame, missing out on conversations like that for lack of shared experience. At Forrest's request, she brings her feet out of the little bath and moves to prop them within easy reach.]

That's fine by me.

It really is fascinating how different all the faiths represented in heaven are. You could study it your entire life and still not know everything.

[Forrest smiles, reaching for a towel to dry her feet and gently running his hands over her soles and arches for a moment.]

It looks like the amrita has done its job.

It is. My world had bits and pieces of proof that some of these figures truly existed, but I'm not sure even we had all of them present at once.

[And while all of them existed at some point in history, most people don't set themselves to studying every single faith and mythology in existence.

Though Maria's toes flick a little when he first touches her feet, that's all the reaction there is. It's a little ticklish, but she's used to this sort of thing.]

It does quick work. What a useful resource to have access to.

The gods of my world are dragons, so it's been a very different experience here.

[Forrest lets out a quiet giggle at the sight of Maria's toes twitching, and then gets right to business with applying the base coat.]

Yes, it's been quite helpful for both relaxation and beauty treatments.

That sounds incredible, but yes, it would be very different, wouldn't it? I considered myself fairly lucky to be assigned a god whose relic I wielded in my own world anyway.

[It's still a little odd to be able to freely talk about her Gear in this place, but she has no reason to hide it. She's not famous, and there's no diplomacy standing in her way. No reason for her to need to live a lie.

That makes her laugh a little.] I imagine so. How often do you do this?

Oh? What relic is that?

[He just keeps on working at the painting.]

Well, today has been much busier than normal. The last time I've done this many at once was at the sleepover Kairi organized. Otherwise, I mostly just do her nails every so often.

Airgetlám, the silver arm. The legend goes that Nuada was the first king of the Tuatha Dé Danann, early Celtic deities, but lost his arm in combat and was removed from the throne for imperfection. Years later, he returned with an arm of silver and took the throne back from the oppressive ruler who had replaced him, and he became known as Nuada Airgetlám.

[Or at least, that's the short version. While the Airgetlám of Maria's world is a little different and seems to blend with the legend of his sword as well, it's a useful background to have.]

Ah, yes, she invited me to that, but I thought I might be a bit old compared to the rest of the guests.

That sounds impressive. I suppose it must have been easy for the heavens to decide which god to have you substitute for, since you already have a tie to the legend.

[Assuming that's how any of this works.]

Oh, no, you would have fit right in. We had people of all ages at the party. My father even showed up for a little while!

Most likely. It didn't make the idea of being a god any easier to adjust to, though. [She laughs a little. Honestly, she still doesn't consider herself a god as much as a stand-in, but she's at least adjusted to the finer details.]

Is that so? I didn't realise people had family members that close here. [She pushes out of her mind the immediate thought that comes to it, of having seen Serena here in some form before.]

I can certainly sympathize with that. It took me a while to be comfortable with the idea.

[He's getting better, though, and growing into the role. It helps that Lakshmi's purview is so close to what he's already good at.]

Yes, there are actually quite a few people from my world here.

There are a few from mine as well...but nothing like that. This is just the first I've heard of someone having an immediate family member arrive. I hope it's not troubling you?

[Which is to say, she hopes his father isn't a shinki. Lord knows Tsubasa being one hit Maria hard enough, and she's a very close friend rather than family.]

It's strange to hear about it, really, when it usually seems to be random who comes here.

Actually, he's been here longer than I have. I'm glad to have him here.

[Forrest smiles as he finishes up the last few brush strokes, blowing lightly on Maria's toes to help the base coat dry a little.]

That's good, then. It can really depend on what people come here as. [But if he's happy to have him here, then she's guessing he's a god.

Maria smiles a little as he finishes, and curls her toes a little to help his breath hit as much of them as it can.] You do quick work. As I'd expect from someone experienced.

That's true. Fortunately, we both arrived as gods.

[Not that he's been that lucky with everyone, but he doesn't really want to go into that.]

I'll move back to your fingernails now, then, and then we'll finish with your toes. What color would you like?

It's nice to have that kind of luck, though it seems rare to be that lucky with everyone. [Maria's tone doesn't request further comment from him - it's a mark of awareness born from her own situation. One friend here as a god, one as a shinki. All things considered, she could have done worse.

Spreading her fingers out so he can take her hands when he needs, Maria considers for a moment.] If you have a pearl shade, something like that would do wonderfully.

[Forrest nods, content to leave that slightly awkward topic where it is for now.]

Ah... yes, I can do that. How about something with a very slight pinkish tint, to match your hair? I just learned how to swirl colors together and I'd love to try it out. The result should give the pearlescent sheen you're looking for.
