Hello, everyone. It's been a while since I've made an announcement like this, but I'm afraid I've been a little busy lately. I hadn't intended to stop taking clothing commissions, but I've been training with Lady Orihime over the past few weeks to learn more about creating divine raiments and it's been taking up most of my free time. I've finished my first major project, though, so I've got a little more flexibility lately.

I still won't be taking commission work until I've finished my training, but I do have enough time to open the temple up for beauty treatments. The pools in the garden behind the temple have healing properties and help keep skin soft, and I can also do hair and nail work for anyone who's interested. In addition, I'll be teaching a sewing class once a week at Hakkai's school. And once Lady Orihime is satisfied with my progress, I'll be able to start making clothing again too. So if anyone is interested in any of that, feel free to let me know and we can either set up an appointment at Lakshmi's temple or get you enrolled at the school.

[Forrest smiles, nodding at the feed.]

[Forrest laughs a little - it's an entirely affectionate barb at Leo's expense.]

It's easy once you get the hang of it. Kairi let me practice on her.

Ah well, if it suits him then you can both do your own style, can't you?

[Maria imagines that's likely already the case, she's just carrying on the more lighthearted tone.

There's a little nod at the mention of Kairi.] I've met her a few times, she does seem like she'd enjoy something like that. Natsuru would let me practice on her, I'm sure.

Mmhmm. What works for one person won't necessarily suit the next. That's what makes fashion so interesting!

[Forrest smiles brightly as he starts in on her nails. The swirling effect is very pretty, lending a light opalescence to the overall appearance.]

Not as much as I do, I think. But she's very kind, letting me try out new things.

That's right. It's also what makes it so difficult, but that's part of the fun.

[Which not everyone might agree with, but it seems like Maria and Forrest are in good company with each other here.

Maria watches the application of the nailpolish with interest, noting the opal effect even as they continue talking.]

Still, it doesn't seem like she'd dislike it enough for it to be troubling her to ask.

It would be boring if everyone looked the same.

[Yup, definitely on the same wavelength. And now that Forrest is getting the hang of the swirl, the rest of the nails go fairly quickly.]

No, it's not troubling at all. It's enjoyable for both of us.

It would. Though I've been around the fashion industry enough to be used to the quirks.

[Even if the music industry was her main one, an idol generally ends up brushing with both, in her experience.]

I thought it would be.

I've been designing clothing for years, but I'm only just getting a feel for the industry. It's very different in this world than where I come from.

[Still, he doesn't seem bothered. And with a smile, he moves back down to Maria's toes.]

Do you like the swirl pattern? Should I finish your toes with it?

Was there a proper fashion industry where you came from? There seem to be people from all sorts of different eras here.

[Meeting someone unfamiliar with running water early on kind of coloured Maria's perceptions there.]

I'd like that, if it's not too much trouble.

There are clothing designers, but they mostly work on a commission basis for nobility. It's nothing like what I've seen here.

[Nodding up at her, he mixes together the swirl pattern again before getting started on painting her toenails.]

I'm really happy with how this pattern turned out. Your nails are going to look so cute!

Yes, that would be very different to the industry here. Obviously we do still have high-class designers that mostly work for rich clients, but it's a little different than that.

[Not by much, but enough that it may still be hard to relate to it coming from that kind of place. As he starts painting her toenails, she smiles warmly.]

I'm sure they will. Thanks again for doing this for me.

Yes, it's all so new and exciting! I even helped one of Lakshmi's followers become a fashion designer.

[He's obviously pretty happy about broadening his horizons. And happy to be helping people out with fashion at the same time.]

Don't mention it. I enjoy helping people look and feel their best.

That sounds wonderful. My shinki and I helped out an aspiring model recently, since she was praying for some inspiration.

[Maria still isn't quite sure why she was praying to the god she's representing right now, but still, she wasn't going to turn it down.]

I can see that. It's always nice to see people passionate about their work.

It looks like they definitely went to the right goddess.

[Forrest isn't shy about tossing out compliments if they're deserved, and he definitely appreciates her fashion sense from what he's seen so far.]

Yes, I feel the same way. I'm not that good at fighting ayakashi, but if I can help like this instead, I'll give it my absolute best.

[As evidenced by how delicately he's wielding that brush as he paints each of her toes, carefully swirling the polish into pretty patterns.]

I'd hope they think that as well. It was a good chance for me to get Natsuru out there as well, and help her confidence.

[As far as Maria's concerned, Natsuru has the potential to be a wonderful model or idol, it's just a matter of convincing Natsuru of that.

She can appreciate his drive to help one way or another, and she offers him a warm smile.]

There's always some way for us all to contribute. I may be good at fighting, but if I need to inspire people with my music instead, I'll give it that same effort.

The best prayers are ones we can learn from too. I'm glad it turned out well for you both.

[Forrest catches her eye for a moment and nods, smiling back.]

I agree. There are all sorts of things we can do to help. I've had enough fighting for one lifetime, truthfully.

I'm glad it did as well. I hope things keep going that well.

[She knows that won't necessarily be the case, but she can at least always hope for it to be.

His remark on fighting gets a sympathetic half-smile.] I know the feeling. I won't put down my arms until there's nothing else that needs protecting, but it does get tiring.

Yes, that's how I feel too. I'll help my friends if they need me, but I'd much rather be doing something like this.

[And that's one foot done. He blows a bit on her toes like he did before.]

There... how does it look?

That's a good attitude to have. Sometimes you have to help, but it's always better to play to your strengths.

[Trying to force yourself to do something you just aren't good at or passionate about isn't really going to help anyone.

At his prompting, Maria tilts her foot up a little to look at the paint job, and her smile widens.] It's lovely. Thank you.

I'm glad you understand. Sometimes I worry I'm not doing enough.

[He doesn't want to dwell on it, though, so he diverts his attention to admire his work for a moment.]

Just one foot to go, and we'll be all finished! I can't wait to try this with Kairi again now that I'm really getting good at it.

[The smile and blush on his face are obvious.]

I think we all have that worry from time to time. [There's a knowing smile on Maria's face, as if she's speaking personally, but she doesn't press on the subject. She can take a hint of when someone doesn't want to talk about something.

His affection there is very obvious, and Maria has to wonder what the nature of his relationship with Kairi actually is. But again, she doesn't press, her smile merely widening a little.] You seem excited. Though it does seem like you've gotten rather good at it, so you have reason to be.

I'm just glad to know I'm not the only one.

[If he was half as good at fighting as he is at this, Forrest would be a pretty powerful combatant. Of course, he's better at it than he says he is, though - for all his hesitancy, Leo's magical blood runs strong in him.]

Ah... yes.

[He gives an embarrassed little laugh, accompanied by a slight widening of his smile. This is definitely the expression of a young man in love thinking of his special lady.]

I'm sure she'll love it. Maybe I can make it look like a rainbow for her!

It's a helpful thought. [Maria doesn't elaborate too far on that, but she remains sounding understanding. Knowing people have experienced the same hardship you have is always a balm of some kind.

Forrest's reaction to Maria's comment only confirms her suspicion on his relationship, and one side of her mouth turns up a bit as she watches it. It's rather cute to see young love like that.]

I'm sure she'd love that. I haven't met her too many times, but it seems like something fitting for her.

[He's content to leave it there, and Forrest confirms her suspicions even harder when he blushes in reaction to her smile.]

She loves colorful things. I think it would suit her perfectly.

[And speaking of suiting people perfectly, he's finishing up her pinky toe with one last careful stroke.]

There! All finished. I think it turned out beautifully.

I agree. The effort would certainly be worth it. [Doing it in rainbow would take much longer with having to switch colours and mix different ones, but for someone Forrest loves, Maria can't help but think it's a fitting gesture.

As he finishes up with her other foot, Maria leans over a little to look at the work, and smiles softly.]

I think so too. I appreciate all the work you've put in.

I think I'll make that my next project, then!

[Forrest seems satisfied too, nodding back at her.]

It was nothing. Feel free to come back whenever you need it touched up or if you'd like to try a new color.
