Good morning everyone. I just had a small question.

I'm finding myself with some free time and I was wondering if it's common for us to pick up a job? I realize in spite of our status, some things still require money, they same as they would for the living.

If you have a job and wouldn't mind sharing, I'd like to hear about what you do and how you feel about it. How did you find it? Or perhaps you were thinking about doing the same and just hadn't decided yet.

It's also not a problem is it? If a shinki something like that? So long as it doesn't interfere with their duties to their master. I certainly have no intention of inconveniencing them in any way.

Yes I had worried that might be an issue but it doesn't seem impossible. Maybe some kind of job that doesn't require us to work closely with others would be best? [He thinks Axel is talking about people seeing him on the job.]

If you're worried about services, I'm sure there are people here who can assist. I'm aware of at least four goddesses and gods of beauty, surely one of them can give you a hair cut.

I don't really need a hair cut... but there must be some situations where having money could prove useful even if it's not very often. What's wrong with being prepared?

I can't think of any circumstances. Unless people around the Far Shore start requiring the exchange of currency for services, but that seems unnecessary. What use have gods for money?

Admittedly I was mostly looking for something more to do. Are you a student there? What sort of things can one learn there?

Assuming the Shinki remains ready for the God to utilize there seems no reason why they can't maintain their independence, including sourcing a job.

From a god's standpoint, I find myself walking amongst the Near Shore in my own 'free time'.

Yes that is what I was hoping for. Ideally I could even provide additional support for my god in this way.

There certainly is a lot to take in though, isn't there? Are you looking for anything in particular or just exploring at your leisure?

After completing a prayer, I started taking odd jobs. Finding lost pets and objects, helping old people with gardening, that kind of thing.

People don't always notice you're there, or they'll forget soon after, but it suits me just fine. I'm a god, but I wouldn't mind if my shinki had their own pursuits, so long as they're safe.

That doesn't sound so different from the prayers themselves. Only you go looking for them before they're ever asked?

[He kind of likes that idea. If one was only looking for recognition that's a rather selfish way of helping and Horikawa wouldn't feel right about doing such a thing.]

I definitely wouldn't plan to do anything dangerous though. That would just cause problems of a different sort.

I got to thinking, there must be a lot more that needs to be done that people just don't ask for. Or haven't asked for yet.

That's true. Gods and shinki need each other to combat the darkness in this world.

My own god doesn't seem to mind, but there is a problem of having others notice us. I seem to have a lot of experience with this, but perhaps odd jobs would do better.

So just one off jobs? It would definite be a problem getting a job only to have your boss forget to give you work I agree. I wonder if they still forget even if there's some kind of record of you.

I seem to have that problem with even Far Shore people, but everyone seems to remember me enough that I think you would be able to get a job. But that will definitely be your best chance, unless you want to try for any of the low-level retail jobs.

I wonder if there's anything like a work from home job any of us could do. We'd probably need flexibility.

That's a good idea! We can use the internet so we probably just appear like anyone else there. Although I'd be nice to do something that gets you out more...

If you want to go out, just go out. Why do you need a job as an excuse? It will only keep you inside somewhere else.

If you want to explore then don't waste the chance.

I'm sure if my shinki wanted a job he could try to get one but I don't think they'd notice him doing anything! I make pretty alright money from my prayer work so it doesn't matter too much for us!

Ah I agree there's not much point in that case. The pay doesn't concern me so much as having something to do.

Unfortunately we haven't had may prayers come in yet and I wouldn't want to be a nuisance but perhaps that's a good reason to keep myself free should we suddenly find ourselves busy with work.

I've followed advice I got here, and made a post about doing odd jobs in one of the local newspapers. It's rather hold to hold a steady, daily job, but with enough dedication it is most likely possible.

Perhaps if you have skill that you could advertise over the internet, and complete your job digitally, it would be the most efficient.

But for that, you still need to get a hold of bank account first.

So that's working well for you? I don't mind having to put in a bit extra. [Maybe something unstable didn't work for everyone but Horikawa's intentions aren't exactly opportunistic.]

It seems getting a bank account may be impossible though. It looks like you need an address for that. Unless a shrine counts for that sort of thing but then... My god isn't from Japan... Or even this era.
