How would you define the word monster?


[A few recent conversations have gotten her thinking about certain things and she's genuinely curious about the answers she might get. Cardia is well aware that there are a few people who do know her secret and could probably guess that this is from her. But she's not brave enough to ask something like this without anonymity to hide behind.]

In some cases monsters might do more harm to others, but for how they got there in the first place it boils down to their actions.

And what about someone who was born a monster?
How do their actions factor in?

[alchemists]

I don't believe that someone can be born a monster in that sense. I'm a product of alchemy and some might view me as a monster but I wasn't born as such with that purpose.

[Cardia is a product of alchemy herself, but her creator certainly had a dark purpose in mind.]

And if you had been created with such a purpose?
Does the will of the person who brought you into the world dictate the sort of person you will become?

They will be an influence but not the only factor, even though the person who created me had a goal that was evil she was only doing it because she misunderstood Papa's final wishes.

That's unfortunate.
What would you have done if your father did have some nefarious wish?
Fulfill it?
Or go against his wishes as well?

[alchemists]

I would go against his wishes, even if it would be painful.

[drops_acid]

I think I would too.
You're very lucky your father had good intentions for you.
That must be a nice feeling.

[alchemists]

In the end I think it turned into a nice emotion after Carol finally understood.

That's good.
I'm glad it worked out alright.

[She is glad. And maybe slightly envious. Her own familial circumstances didn't turn out as well.]
