Hello everyone, I hope that I'm doing this right. I will admit, I'm still getting used to using this, so please be patient with me.

I was curious, for those who struggle with reading or writing here: do you have any tips? I feel like I'm slowly making progress, but it's frustrating when you can't read most of what you find in the library. I think I saw something about learning, but I may be mistaken.

Alternately, is there anyone who wants to put together small study groups for those of us who aren't as proficient with reading and writing in Japanese? Does something like that exist? If not, would anyone be interested?

Maybe? I've been training, though. And I've still been practicing my reading!

Training your body is all well and good, but you need to train your mind as well. A person is only as good or strong as what she knows, so being able to pull knowledge from other places is important.

I've still been reading, but I haven't done any homework. My teacher isn't here, though.

Well, I suppose it is summertime, so perhaps a bit of a break from homework isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I still practice my letters and numbers and things, too! And I read things here. Although sometimes they're big words and I have to have someone help me.

What kinds of books do you like to read, Nanako? And I imagine your big brother helps you with the big words?

He does! And I like all kinds of books. I like exciting ones with adventures a lot. Or ones with animals. But ones with lots of pictures are still easier, they're my favorites.

Books with adventures? Those sound like fun to read. Maybe you can bring some of your favorite books over to our church, and the two of us can read together.

Of course! I would love to have you out here. It gets lonely with just the two of us, and I think you would like Allen a lot. He's a good person.
