i learned alot of stuff about shinki and blight
why do gods get blight when their shinki get blight? thats not fair
is there some way to stop that cause i wanna fight without hurting mrick

ROCKSUS you jerk how can you do that to kairy
she loves you a lot and does her best

[Voice]

[The post switches to voice a moment after because Goten isn't that good at writing but he wanted to be sure to get two gods attention. Writing was better for that right?]

Kairi is really strong and doing her best for you and everyone else you know! Shes the best exemplar ever so she should be exemplar! I don't wanna be an exemplar if she isn't one too! The exemplar thing is dumb if the best shinki is the first shinki a god gets! That's cheating!

[There's a small pause as Goten remembers something]

Oh! Oh and Roxas, Aymeric! Neither of you can get mad at Kairi! Yeah! She really helped me out a lot with that prayer and I'd be ayakashi food without her!

Hmm.

[There's a little pause, as if Hijikata's giving something great and careful consideration, before he switches the connection to private.]

It does hurt when your shinki is blighted, but it's supposed to. It's a way of letting your god know something is wrong. That isn't something he'll hold against you, if he's a good god.

Was something troubling you?
koukai_kirai: (It's death or victory)

...I didn't know that you'd lost your god. I'm sorry.

If you touched an ayakashi and got blighted, it wasn't an emotional problem of your own causing the blight. It's still not ideal, but at least it's easier to deal with permanently.

And everyone feels things like worry and sadness. There's no way to avoid affecting us completely, I don't think, so the important thing when it does happen is to work with your god and clear the air so you can let things go more effectively. If the stinging was a complete accident like that, there's no point feeling guilty about it.

[It must be hard, losing so many gods. Especially for a kid who seems to get attached pretty easily. Hijikata sighs, fishing out his smokes and lighter while he thinks on how to answer.]

Stinging someone isn't going to make them disappear. I know gods whose shinki have blighted them nearly badly enough to kill them, and they're still around.

Souji stings me now and then. There's something he wants sometimes, but he feels like it's not something he should be allowed to have, so when he catches himself thinking about it, he feels guilty. My other shinki worries a lot, and has a strong conscience and a bit of a difficult situation that they have to work with, so they sting me sometimes, too.

It hurts, but that's not always bad. You like training and sparring, right? When you get roughed up in sparring, it's good because you know you're pushing your limits and learning new things.

When our shinki sting us, we have something to learn from it. Even those of us who used to be human, too -- we can learn about how you struggle, and what you need help with. It can help bring us closer to you, if we learn how to listen.

It's good to try not to, you just don't have to feel like it's the end of the world if you do it by accident now and then. Be careful around ayakashi, be open with your god about your feelings, work through it with him when a problem does come up.

[He takes a little drag of his cigarette, then shrugs, a bit awkwardly.]

My shinki work hard to support me. It's only right that I do what I can to look after them, too.

[He's always thought that's what a leader ought to be like, and tried his best to live up to it from the first time he got the chance to.]

[...Like a "pround momma"?]

[Hijikata tries hard not to make a face about that, but honestly? That's... That's definitely not a way he'd have chosen to describe himself. He frowns, though he looks more confused than disapproving, all things considered.]

Good. Keep all that in mind, and you shouldn't get in too much trouble.

[He pauses, unsure whether he should add the next part. The thought of losing his god again obviously upsets Goten. But...]

...If you do end up needing somewhere to go, you know where my shrine is. Don't hesitate to come here if you need anything.

[The ducks like him anyway.]
koukai_kirai: (I'm a night owl and a wise bird too)

[Something in Hijikata's shoulders relaxes. He'd been worried that talking about it would upset Goten, but it doesn't seem to have.]

You can come by when you feel like it. I'm off hunting ayakashi in the evenings sometimes, but I'm usually around otherwise, and the ducks are always here.
koukai_kirai: (Although I didn't have a knife)

Souji and I are usually around, if we aren't out hunting for ayakashi or answering prayers.

They've gotten a lot bigger. They're close to grown, I'd think, though I don't suppose I've seen how big this sort of duck usually gets before.

[It's all... oddly domestic, in a way he'd have objected to for most of his life and somehow finds himself relishing now.]
