I haven't really tried very many of either, at least not that I remember. But the shaved ice you can buy at the summer festivals all over the place is nice. You can get more elaborate versions with condensed milk or anmitsu or something at some of the cafes, if you look around a little bit...

I tried taiyaki, and that was nice, too.

Oh, taiyaki! I think I am going to go hunt that down. As soon as I figure out a more steady line of work.

There was a stand outside the grocery store I usually go to with matcha-flavored custard as a filling last weekend. I liked that one a lot :)

What have you been doing for work so far? I'm searching for a job right now, too.

I've been tricking people into thinking I am employee and having them pay me for work. Usually part time chef at a food stand or working a register. I'm not really sure what I am good at.

That's... sort of brilliant, actually. You're just bypassing the "finding a job opening and getting hired" part completely?

Yeah! It works at least 1 out of 3 tries. Usually the part timer you're replacing won't know who is hired and sometimes the boss just doesn't want to deal with the problem.

I'm not sure I have the confidence for something like that, but it's... definitely a creative way around the problem.

It took me a bit to catch on but when people forget about you it's easy to avoid lasing anger.

I can see that. I just don't think I really have the... performance skills to lie to someone's face like that.

Maybe I was a politician or something in life. It comes pretty easily. That or I am just usually making stuff on the fly.

If that's the case, sneaking your way into shifts at the convenience store sounds like a little bit of a step down...

I wish could actually sound that cool. I heard that once and always wanted to use it though.

It sounds deep and all, but it isn't really that accurate, is it? Some shinki definitely have more going for them than others...

I mean, we're not really "equal in death" if some of us have more useful powers, or have better or worse gods, are we?

I guess so, but I'm sure the ones with more power are most at risk too.You definitely got me on the gods part though.

Do you think so? I feel like I'd feel safer if I had a power that was a little bit more useful in a dangerous situation.

You can always leave the danger up to the ones that like that sort of thing. Besides, if I had weird powers I don't remember having I'd probably ask the wrong questions and get myself akayashi-ed real quick.

I was talking about the ones we have in our vessel forms, but I guess I don't really have any powers otherwise, either...

My god's other shinki doesn't seem to be all that made for fighting, either, though.

If you're not happy with those powers, you can just find another god you like and join them too right? Eventually you'll get something good.

If you're worried about your god's safety you could even use that to make a deal. Find a stronger god to defend your other god.
