I do not think this is the time for beach parties. Half of us cannot remember who we are. Those of us who know a shinki's past could kill them with a single word, without ever meaning for them to come to harm. This should not be accepted as normal without so much as an explanation as to why it is necessary.

What reason could there possibly be to strip someone of all memory?

Why does nobody seem to know what is going on?

but I can tell there are too many gods acting like they know best even though they've been kept in the dark as much as the rest of us

I can certainly assure you of that.

And yet this place would appear to be encouraging that, by giving those of us it names as gods so much more than it offers to those of us it brands shinki. Though why it would want to is another matter. It seems to do nothing so much as breed arrogance.

you need arrogance to make the gods comfortable enough with using a person as a tool to fight ayakashi [That was his best guess, at least.]

and if this place encourages that, they can be sure there will be some gods willing to fight ayakashi and prevent them from becoming too big of a problem

You are correct. It is arrogance, to treat a person as an object to be wielded at will. It is hard to credit that this should be the only way.

Regarding the Ayakashi, it concerns me that we seem to do no more than react to their presence. There are better, more permanent ways to keep wolves from a village than to sit and wait for them to appear. Why are we not considering them?

I haven't heard anyone talking about another way yet [It was either that people weren't talking about it or they felt powerless to do anything about it, and he didn't want to consider the latter as a possibility.]

you're not going to figure out why by asking me. what are these better and more permanent ways?
