[He is so mad. So very, very mad right now. He doesn't remember how much he loved books beforehand, but he does know that he has all of two personal belonging here - his satchel and his feather hairpiece. That means anything not nailed down, he doesn't mind taking. He found those books, that made them his.

Until the goblins came.

He had the sense to go back to bed after they woke him up in the middle of the night, but he can most certainly scream while preparing breakfast.]

Of all the things to jump into my bed in the middle of the night and take from me... Books? Not even books that teach you fundamental skills! Puff the Magic Dragon, a children's book, clearly; The Giving Tree, which is also more art than words and not even diagrams; and some kind of book that actually had pieces that jumped up at me off the page.

The books were lying on the ground! Clearly whoever lost them didn't care that much about them! So I picked them up and brought them to my god's temple! What was wrong about that?!

If anyone has books that they don't want anymore, I will gladly take them off your hands instead of throwing them on the ground!

This keeps happening to other people too though! Why would anyone steal books?

What kinds of books have you seen? I'm hearing stories and spellbooks both.

There was a spellbook and two storybooks. I was going to look through the spellbook and see if maybe it was something my shinki could benefit from, since it seemed like it was for a spell I already could do through other means.

Then, well. I mean, they already made a mess in my temple, and then the gremlins ad to come back around and take the books away?!

So it was gremlins who stole from you too... I'm going to have to keep an eye out for them from now on. No good little monsters.

Well... I don't know that that's what they're literally called. But I didn't really have a chance to ask before they slipped away. Personally, I think "obnoxious little book-stealing assholes" is a good enough name, but I'm not in charge of naming things for a good reason.

I think that's a pretty good name too, actually! I don't know why but gremlin was the name that came to me for the kind of monster I thought they were. Surely there's more than one kind? But oh wait, that MIGHT have been in a part of the book I didn't get to read!

It's hard to say sometimes, isn't it? Sometimes a lot of different ones get grouped together, too, don't they?

In this case, yes, but I suppose it applies to most things, too. You'll often end up in a case where two things that seem similar are mistaken for each other.

See, my thought was that either we were talking about the same thing under different names, or we were talking about two different things under different names but thought we were talking about the same things because they acted so similarly.

Maybe we can get a picture book for confusing times like this. Or start one.
