Heaven's BBS - Video

When: June 6
From: Wendy

----------

[The video suddenly flashes on, focused on what looks like a young girl- one that some of the people who attended the beach party the other day might recognize, although her hair has been pulled down into a more sensible long braid. The background shows she's walking through the Far Shore somewhere, going inbetween temples.]

[Her eyes widen in surprise.]

Oh! Oops, I didn't mean to turn it on already.... Oh well, I guess. So if this is really working like it's supposed to...

Hello, I'm Wendy. I just got here yesterday as a shinki, and I have a few questions.... Well, one in particular.

The first is, what are the questions you always see from new shinki? The things you think they need to know?

The second is... I got invited to go shopping with someone, since I only have one outfit! If anyone else is in the same position, or just wants to get new clothes.... Meet us in, um... Harajuku, I think she called it...? So yeah- we'll be there for today.

[For a second, she fiddles with the phone before it suddenly turns off.]

[ooc: For those interest, the log is over here!]

Not all shinki ask about this when they're new because not all of them find out about it that early, but how to draw borderlines is a common question. Since they're for self-defense, it's a good skill to pick up early on, and most shinki experienced with them seem happy enough to teach the technique.

[Because he's paranoid and doesn't like using video outside private chats. But he'll wait.]

Almost exactly what it sounds like. You draw a line that creates a barrier against attacks. It's a bit like some kind of shield spell.

What do you already know about being a shinki? If you want other information, I'd rather not waste both our time with things you've heard before.

I would've been surprised if you didn't know that. You can't just turn, though, your god has to turn you into the weapon and back by saying your names.

Not that I've heard, but I'd be very surprised if it had never happened. Is your god mute, or something else?

[The alternate options there probably depend on the exact nature of why they can't call the name.]

[Shun would probably be much more disbelieving about that if he hadn't met the wolf in question yesterday.]

That white and red wolf that was hanging around the beach yesterday? She might need to find her own workaround, then, if someone's explained how that works to her. Gods usually get more of an explanation than shinki, at least.

The problem for her is going to be that when it comes to workarounds, most people probably would've had humans or humanoids in mind. A hand gesture or something instead of an intonation wouldn't work for her. But if she's been told about how the shinki system works, she might be able to work something out herself. Or you can work together on it.

With all the ridiculousness in this place, I'd be very surprised if the one thing that stumped it was finding a way for a dog god to switch your form.

They can't be that uncommon, there's plenty of myths about ones that at least have animal heads. And sacred animals aren't a new thing. An animal god is just another step up from it.

Most likely. It'd be a damn stupid thing to become an insurmountable problem.
revolutionfalcon: (if looks could kill)

You have a point, but I like to think there's limits to the stupidity.

Sometimes. I usually regret it.

You seem confident about that.

It depends on whether it ever becomes relevant.
