[The video feed clicks on to show Goten's face way closer up then it needs to be. He squints a bit at the screen as if trying to figure out if it's working or not. When he does lean back, there's no greenery or buildings behind him, just a vast blue sky dotted with clouds. It's easier to show everything from a bird's eye view, or at least he thinks so. For once the boy isn't grinning from ear to ear. He's much too confused and concerned right now.]
I think it's working....
Um, can temples just disappear? I can't find Archie anywhere either. All that's left are me and my new cloud friend here.
[He angles the video down to show the fluffy bright-yellow cloud he's sitting on. The cloud almost seems to bounce up in greeting. The video moves to look past the cloud and down far below at an nearly untouched beach with a cliff side. For anyone that had ever found or seen it, Dakuwaqa's temple has vanished.]
D-does that happen a lot? Where does everything go? I've looked all over...
[He already knows the god isn't around, that or he magically picked up and cleaned house. The name that was on his right hand is gone too so...His voice strengthens as he takes a deep breath and flips the camera back to his face in a sudden motion, frowning and trying to glare. He really is upset about this. He's hoping maybe the shark god just took his teasing or trick too far this time.]
Arrrrrrrrrrchie! You better answer me! If you're trying to play a trick on me I won't forgive you. You hear me! This isn't funny!

[He's silent for a moment. Poor boy: he's young to have to deal with what is effectively (and, perhaps, actually) death. Holding out false hope, though, seems crueler to Hakkai than brutal honesty about Archie's likely death.]
I'm afraid you should start thinking about finding another god.
no subject
....Oh.
[He repeats it. A little sadder. He still doesn't completely understand, he wants to hold on to his hope or that least think that Archie is at least okay. Maybe Archie went home? He talked about his home a bit to Goten. It sounded nice.]
The name on my hand is gone b-but...I don't want another god. [I want Archie. Archie was his god even if he wouldn't let him fight or anything. He still liked him]

It's dangerous to be a shinki without one, though.
[His tone stays gentle: there's no need for the boy to find another god immediately, after all. Hakkai had only rushed, himself, because he'd been afraid of being assigned to some stranger.]

[He hums thoughtfully. Hakkai has a point and he knows it. It's weird not having a god. Everytime he looks at his hand he's reminded of it]
Mmmm....as long as I don't run into that one guy I think I'll be okay. If anything get scary I can fly away.

[God-finding advice for children. It's a little disturbing that he needs to give it, but it's better than a child winding up with a god like Susano'o.]
no subject
That isn't fair!
[He blinks at himself, standing up on the cloud as he twists this way and that as if looking for a new name, just to be safe. He doesn't want to be someone else's Shinki, especially to someone he doesn't know! Archie; where the heck did you go?!]
no subject
[And it's not at all how real shinki find their deities. Hakkai doesn't like to think real shinki, but it's hard to deny that he and the other new shinki aren't any more like the normal variety than their gods are like real gods.]
no subject
[What Hakkai is saying makes sense, Goten just is just not happy to hear it. So regardless he has to be paired up with a god and if he doesn't do it soon he'll get someone random. What if he get's paired up with that one guy. Goten shakes his head rapidly. Oh no no no no way is that happening!!]
I-I'll find a new god! Really really soon!
no subject
Wherever he is, I hope he's all right.

[He frowns, averting his eyes down. He really doesn't want to find a new god. There are a lot of friendly people, he's befriended some other gods but they're still not Archie. Still he has too. Hakkai lost his god and found another so it isn't like this has only happened to Goten. still...he worries. So quietly, with curiosity getting the better of him:]
What's it like getting a new god?
no subject
[His voice acquires a briskly practical tone as the teacher gets the better of the sympathetic fellow shinki.]
no subject
[The form and the name thing don't really bother him. It makes sense....or as much as any of this does.]
Thanks for telling me all this, mister! Really! I miss Archie but I dont wanna end up with someone I don't like either.
no subject
[Never? Yes, when a shinki's assigned to a god without a formal naming, they don't seem to transform the first time, but to never fight together? Perhaps his god wasn't willing to use a child as a weapon. It speaks well of the missing 'Archie.'
Still, Hakkai's a little startled.]
...Well, you're welcome. Please let me know if you need any help finding a new god. I've only been here a few months, but I know a few gods, at least!
no subject
[Goten blinks at that, giving a small grin.]
Thanks mister! I'll remember that! If I have trouble finding someone I'll let you know.
[No way is Goten gonna get someone awful now! As much as he does miss Archie that's still good news]
no subject
In any case, the best way to fight them is by your god's side.
[Hakkai's smile is audible in his voice.]
Good luck, Goten.
no subject
[He pouts about that. Yeah, he really is going to need a god then.]
Thanks uh-- [Pause. Let him scroll to find his name again] Cho Hakkai!

[There's a smile in Hakkai's voice, and a click as he hangs up.]
