[ The video turns on showing Zero in a dark room inside his temple. A quiet look falls across his eyes as he faces the camera. He's not one to speak to people let alone about himself but after his encounter with Sheryl, he has no choice. He knows what happened even if he can't remember it. He lost control. ]

My name is Zero Kiryuu and I was here before as a shinki.

[ A pause as he squares his shoulders to face his crimes. ]

I need to know if I killed someone.

They took my memories when I was brought back as a god but that doesn't erase my crimes. I need to know what happened. What I did.

I won't let this go.

[ OOC: He doesn't know he died, he simply assumes his loss of memories is due to the whole turning a shinki into a god deal. Some kind soul, please spring that up on him. Also, for any future in-action meet ups Zero will mysteriously have some pomegranate fruit/seeds on him at all times. If you eat them you'll be sentenced (only if you want!) to stay one night at his temple before the seeds effects let them escape! ]

[ There's a long pause. ]

Would you mind if I saw you?

I would rather tell you in person.

[ Something is wrong. That much he can tell. Whatever it is he's hiding Zero is determined to find it because he suspects there's more to this than meets the eye. ]

Choose the place and I will meet you.

[ He gives him the location they first met when that picnic was going on. ]

I'll be waiting. [ And then he disconnects ]

[ Of course, he's just standing there waiting. The cherry blossoms have almost all disappeared, as the season is coming to its end, but they're still there. The shorter man is wearing a red and black tracksuit, hair in its normal ponytail. ]

[ Half an hour later finds Zero moving through the cherry blossoms tracking a steady heart-beat through the foliage until he comes across a small figure in the distance. He steps on a pile of dried leaves to echo his location before approaching, slowly.

He's taller than before, 6'3 to his previous 6'1 and his hair has gotten slightly longer but only by an inch. It's the only visible differences aside from his facade that shows a man whose gained insight in the year he's gained. He's not so quick to temper, not so quick to find amusement in the smallest things. He's distant, more so than before, but calmer. He's gained patience.

He comes to a stop ten feet from him, keeping his distance as he looks down at him, trying to remember who he was but nothing comes through. ]

[ ...Why was he taller? ]

[ If in a more humorous situation, he would have commented idly on it, but that was not the time. It raised more questions, as did the slightly longer hair, but only by a touch. He didn't look the same. Oh, it was Zero without a doubt, he had the same... odd aura to him that he could read (a chakra signature, but he didn't know that). But he was... different. He didn't know how or why but he was... older. ]

[ This survey was obvious in his eyes. But those same red eyes lifted up and to him. ]

You're dependable. [ A statement, not as a comment but as if he always knew. ]

[ He looks at him, trying to surmise his thoughts but without any knowledge of this person he lets it go and starts at the beginning. ]

Who are you?

My name is Itachi. [ He could go on with more, but Zero wouldn't remember. So he would let him ask the questions. ]

[ Itachi... His brows crease as he tries to pull up any memory but none come forth. In the end, he's forced to give up on that thread and returns his eyes back to the man in front of him. It was clear he wasn't going to elaborate but he was willing to answer his question. Yet, there was only one that truly mattered to him at this moment. ]

Did I... attack you, too?

... [ A small part of him wanted to lie, to protect him... but when he thought about Zero, he wouldn't want him to lie. He would want him to tell the truth. ]

You did, yes.

You approached me, calm as night. You knew me, and I you, so you must have thought me an easy target. Perhaps you wanted to see a face of someone who trusted you twist in terror.

[ Those words have his face shifting into a neutral blank yet he can't help the way his fingers curl into a fist, nor the way his aura suddenly grew dark turning in on itself. ]

Your blood.

[ He looks at him with steady eyes that had lost all signs of softness. ]

Did I take it?

Allow me to ask a question, Zero-san.

...You attacked many people, before you disappeared... not just myself. When people were speaking ill of you... I defended you, in the best way I could. I apologized in your stead... though I know I do not have the authority to. But I felt as if I owed you that much.

[ There's a pause, and he stands a little straighter. ] So tell me.

...Are you... some sort of spirit?

[ He loses the sharpness in his features as the neutral gaze morphs into confusion as his brows crease. He... defended him? But- ]

Why would you defend me? [ It doesn't make any sense. ] I attacked you.

[ He shakes his head at the question. ] I'm not a spirit.

Does it matter? You won't remember what I tell you. [ He reaches back, hand gently smacking the black bark of the tree as his hand relaxes on it. ]

This is where you and I first met. Under this tree.

Just as you watched over me, than I shall watch over you. Shinki protect gods. Friends protect friends.

You were my friend. My only friend.

You come back as a god and you remember everything from your life... just not your time here. And I, can remember nothing from my life, and only my time here. And the only person I trusted was taken away from me.

You remember your life. I don't know anything about it, but... perhaps you understand what I feel.

[ He draws forward, closing the distance between them for he knows he's in pain, and Zero never could watch someone suffer by themselves. ]

I don't.... remember everything. [ He touches his temple. ] There are pieces missing, things that don't make sense.

[ He looks at him. ]

And it's the same here. Things I don't remember. Pieces missing.

Like you.

[ He's silent for a moment. ]

..... I'm sorry I forgot you.

[ There is silence on his own end, and he lowers his hand from the tree. He looks up at the much taller man. ]

At the time, I did not know, and still do not know what you are.

If you are not a spirit of darkness, Zero-san, then what are you? And now that you are a god... what type of god have you become?

[ He pulls back slightly, unable to meet his gaze. ]

.......

[ He wanted to know what he was... what he'd become. Good. Better that he knew now and give up on this idea of friendship. ]

What attacked you was a vampire.

And I'm the god of the Underworld.

A death god.

A vampire... [ He said the word slowly. Then: ] I've never heard of a 'vampire' before. And you are one? [ But he disregarded it for a moment. ] And to have become a god of the Underworld...

That sounds as if it would be difficult.

You would be the one to grant either damnation or mercy... a strange balancing game awaits you, Zero-san.

But it is as I've said.

I may not be your shinki... and you do not remember me. But even so.

I shall do my best to watch over you.

As for your earlier question, yes. You did take my blood.

I offered it, and you drank it from me, but you began to take too much, and I thought I would perish. You attacked me after. It was a struggle, but I was able to awaken abilities I did not know I possessed due to such a thing. Of course, as you and I both know, it doesn't make it right.

...So if you feel remorse, if you wish to make up for what you have done...

Then you shall resume your position. You, a god of death, will continue to watch over me, as well.

[ ... watch over him? His answer is easy to come too. ]

You have my word.

I, a god of death, will protect you.

[ His own look softened a bit. He had felt as if he had become too intense for his own good. But this was something he could live with. ]

[ This was Zero, he knew, but so different. Something had happened. His previous shinki incarnation had the same feeling but... so much lighter. The returned memories, he could then assume, added a heavy weight upon the other man's shoulders. It was the only reason he could think of. ]

[ And it made him wonder... if he ever remembered his old life...would he change, too? He had only been "alive" for so long. He.. he liked who he was now. He would never wish to be anyone else. ]

[ This Zero, he knew, could never be coerced into something as flimsy as friendship. Itachi himself knew better than that--it was why, even after being here, he had still not gained a single friend. Perhaps there was something wrong with him. Perhaps he was unworthy of being loved. So this was the closest thing he had. ]

[ He was bound to his god, and so he would bind himself to Zero, but in a different way. Just through words. ]

[ But he could trust Zero's word. That much he knew. ]

...Do not fail me, then. [ He wouldn't thank him. This was his own pact, as well. ]

[ A hand comes down on top of his head. ]

I won't.

[ He gives him a look, because it is almost as if he is mocking his height, but he says nothing. ]

Your name. [ A pause. ] As a god.

What is it?

Hades.

[ He tells him as he pulls his hand back and six pomegranate seeds come tumbling out of his sleeve falling over the older man. ]

[ He's got his mad reflexes, and he catching four o the pomegranate seeds. He looks at hem in his hands, curiously. ]

...Pomegranate seeds...?

[ And Zero is quick to try and grab them. ]

It's nothing.
