Has anyone ever noticed how many conventionally attractive people there are here? I know it's heaven but there are seriously a lot of attractive people here.

Just a random observation.

There are more important things to notice about a person than that. If it bothers you, then pay attention to things that actually matter. It's that simple.

You're noticing the wrong things, then. How many people actually care if someone is "conventionally attractive"?

its the first thing that gets noticed when you look at a person
i mean without talking to them
like if you look at people en masse?

No it isn't. You notice height, weight, build, muscle mass, bearing...things that are actually useful. Identifying features, if you have time, but combative stats come first. Attractiveness doesn't come into it.

I guess it all depends on perspective?

Maybe, but I don't see the point in noticing whether people are attractive or not.

It just comes to mind, that's all.
It kind of goes to show how differently everyone sees things.

Obviously, since I barely have an idea of what most people would consider attractive anyway. As I'm sure you've guessed, I haven't made the same observation as you about there being a majority.

You'd probably know more about this than me. Is this sort of thing - compliments on appearance, whatever - normal for people to bring up with no reason?

[He's stil extremely confused about how much interest two people he could mention have taken in his appearance, and this might help him navigate that.]

I guess it kind of happens.
Depends on the person you're talking to.
Some people normally bring up that kind of thing, other people don't
Some people mean it just to get in your pants and some mean it genuinely

If you're implying what I think you are, that would be a waste of their time.
I don't understand why they said it, but it's probably something to do with their usual unnecessary fussing, then.

if they're the fussing type
maybe they mean it as a sincere compliment
like between friends

It wasn't anything special or even abnormal. I don't see why it would warrant a compliment.
But they'd both know by now that trying to make me feel better with empty words is pointless, so the compliment is more likely.

Compliments are supposed to be for when someone does something significant and deserving of them. Changing clothes isn't that. And I can't think of any reason I'd "need to hear" something like that.

especially when you're trying something new
maybe they thought you look good in a new style

I was wearing what I wear to work. That's not a new style, that's me taking my coat off and switching out my lower half for what might as well be the same thing but black.

Whatever. I still don't get it, but I suppose if it's relatively normal then it's not my concern anyway.
