I know everybirdie is really busy and there's been a lot going an lately but I've been thinking a lot about what happened at the party.

[Hiyoko is well aware that a lot of other stuff happened right after and there were plenty of gods and shinki still dealing with the fallout from that. That's why she gave it a few days. But now it's time to see if anybirdie else is thinking along the same lines as her.]

That fire was obviously set by people who aren't happy with Amaterasu. I'm not sure if it's her they don't like, or if she's put some unpopular policies in place, but we can't really ignore an attack like this. Has this group tired anything like this before? Have they made any other demands?

[Because 'down with Amaterasu' is one thing, but 'down with the heavens?' What are they supposed to do? Start hurling their temples at the near shore? That demand is way too vague.]

I also heard about an incident with poisoned chocolates. That was before I got here but the whole thing sounded pretty fishy. Does anybirdie else think that might have been an attempt to discredit Amaterasu? And if there any other incidents like that, I wouldn't mind hearing about them.

I don't know for sure, but the moment we appeared, the former god's presence disappeared everywhere. It was gone from all of Tajimamori's old shrines on the Near Shore, and his worshipers forgot they'd ever visited. I've been trying to help out, but it's still not back to where it was.

All I can figure is that we're being brought in to stop the old gods from reincarnating like normal. Maybe they can't destroy all of the belief that humans have that easily.

Is that why there are shrines and stuff but everybirdie has to work really hard to drum up business?
There used to be worshipers and they all forgot?

And why would somebirdie want to stop them from doing that?

There used to be worshipers for some of us, anyway. Not all of us, though, some of the gods who've showed up here I've never even heard of before.

Why do you keep saying somebirdie instead of somebody?

So what about that normal reincarnation thing?

Normally if one of the gods dies they come back as a kid.

Everybirdie seems to want to know about my world.
I'm starting to think I should make pamphlets.

The gods who die come back as kids?
Do they remember their lives or is it more like starting over?

I think it's like starting over. I don't know how it works for us new gods, though. That's the old ones -- you know, the ones who are really gods here. Not just replacing the real thing.

I mean, if they lose their memories every time they die then wouldn't they just keep making the same mistakes every time?

They might, but I guess their shinki can always tell them about what they did last time around.

I don't think anybody thought up the system. It's just how things happen.

Sounds tough on the shinki though.
And even if we work differently I wish they would have told us this stuff.
How did you find out?

I talked to Bishamon about it. She's one of the real gods around here, but she's pretty friendly compared to some of the others. Her lead shinki Kazuma's helpful too, if you catch him when he's not busy!
