HEAVEN'S BBS | VOICE

I know everybirdie is really busy and there's been a lot going an lately but I've been thinking a lot about what happened at the party.

[Hiyoko is well aware that a lot of other stuff happened right after and there were plenty of gods and shinki still dealing with the fallout from that. That's why she gave it a few days. But now it's time to see if anybirdie else is thinking along the same lines as her.]

That fire was obviously set by people who aren't happy with Amaterasu. I'm not sure if it's her they don't like, or if she's put some unpopular policies in place, but we can't really ignore an attack like this. Has this group tired anything like this before? Have they made any other demands?

[Because 'down with Amaterasu' is one thing, but 'down with the heavens?' What are they supposed to do? Start hurling their temples at the near shore? That demand is way too vague.]

I also heard about an incident with poisoned chocolates. That was before I got here but the whole thing sounded pretty fishy. Does anybirdie else think that might have been an attempt to discredit Amaterasu? And if there any other incidents like that, I wouldn't mind hearing about them.

What you guys think?

Could be a grab for power. Someone who'd stand to rise in status if a few of the higher-ups fell. For that, it isn't really necessary to say that Amaterasu herself has done anything to anger them -- she and her adherents could simply be in someone's way.

It doesn't necessarily need to have been a large group, either -- the way that fire was spreading didn't look natural, so whoever it is, I'd wager that they have a decent level of magic, perhaps enough to compensate for working alone or in a small group.

If the candy incident I've heard of was an attempt to spread distrust in the existing administration, I'd say it seems to have been successful. That would make it likely to have been someone working within the heavens -- they'd be more capable of sabotaging something like that without arousing suspicion.

Amaterasu herself seems to mean well, but she also strikes me as naive. Suspecting those close to her might not come as intuitively to her as it should to someone with the sort of power and status she has.

It may serve us best if we take our own initiative for tracking the culprits down, especially if there's a chance it's someone she'd be tempted to turn a blind eye to.

After the fire, yes.

During it, as well, but I didn't know it was her at the time.

She takes the form of a child -- a young girl with a golden headdress. She doesn't seem to be thoughtless, but there's a certain naive quality to her, as I said. Like she's too innocent herself to understand people whose hands and hearts aren't as clean.

My overall impression, again, is that she means well, but might be too quick to overlook potential threats.

I understand they're supposed to reincarnate, but not the way they have in us; I don't know the exact details otherwise.

Do we know what sort of rate they typically age at after reincarnating?

That's also going to depend on how often they tended to die in the first place, though. One gets the sense that whatever caused the vacuum we came in to fill was on a fairly anomalous scale -- but no one seems to have any idea of that, either.

They might just be in the dark, themselves. That's the impression they've given so far, in all honesty.

I didn't get the impression they were being too secretive about that part. There IS a lot to catch us all up on, in their theoretical defense.
