it's like a quarter life crisis

Why are so many of you so young? I'm not the only one at a more mature age, am I? Is anyone over 20? I'm getting wrinkles just thinking about this.

[He's just 25 but if he has one more person tell him they're too young to drink when he thought they were older... his heart can't take it.]

I wouldn't be opposed to that. My shinki isn't much of a drinker anyway, it seems, so I could use a good drinking partner now and again.

My temple's usually quiet aside from Souji and the ducks.

Actually, maybe it would be good to see what kind of places the Near Shore has to drink in these days.
koukai_kirai: (Of a very high degree)

I think I can handle that much of a challenge if you can.

If it does turn out to be too much, we could always drop by a liquor store instead and come back here.

Honestly, it's been some decades since I was a resident on the Near Shore. The style of things may have changed somewhat in that long.

[Are hanamachi and teahouses even still a thing? Questions he will find answers to later, probably.]

"Traditional" might be more similar to what I'm used to, but I can branch out. It's more important that the place have a touch of class without being too stifling about it. Quiet, but with some life to it, if that makes sense.

I was, but Japan has had more time to change than I have in the interim.

At any rate, that sounds good to me. I haven't had the time here to develop too busy of a schedule, so if you let me know some night that you're free, we can go and see what we find.

[Right, that thing. He keeps sort of forgetting it's a thing that exists, in all honesty.]

Popular, are we?

[He types in his number and sends that along with the message.]

Diligent of you. Who do you work for?

I'll keep an eye out for the message.
koukai_kirai: (And he's drunk on white wine)

I'm only familiar with some of the Japanese ones, and only passingly. I suppose it's ironic, but I didn't have much interest in religion before all this.

Not sure. Could depend on what god he served, maybe.

It's strange to think of where the border is between conscious memory and that sort of familiarity. I think I'd drive myself half-crazy over it if I were a shinki.

It doesn't seem to trouble my shinki too much. Suppose he doesn't overthink things quite as much as I can.

With not thinking? I imagine it does.
koukai_kirai: (On my authority)

A medicine for all ills, in that case.

[Not as if he's knocking it. He'd be a hypocrite if he did, for one.]

Well. As I said, when you want to meet, just let me know.
