It seems that today is the day for grim announcements. I regretfully join the ranks of those reporting loss.

To those who care or may be concerned, my shinki Ekko is gone. I can no longer sense his presence, emotionally or spiritually, and his room has been left vacant. It's a bit less dramatic of an exit than those of the gods that have left, but I thought his friends would like to be informed.

I suppose that makes sense. I imagine everyone has their own thoughts on the matter. It hasn't come up in my own experience yet. Truthfully, I'm not sure what I'd do if I were presented with the choice.

It's very likely that you may never have to worry about it. I do not believe there are many noras around, and I would presume that such contracts aren't made lightly. I would imagine they are limited to the heat of battle, when the situation is at its most dire.

That's true. And I've been getting along fine with my current shinki as it is.

I wouldn't consider it a replacement so much as a supplement. I carry no less than three different types of weapons on me at all times, personally. You never know what kind of a fight you're going to get into, so it helps to be prepared.

But I'm glad to hear you're getting along well.

Ah, I see what you mean. Different shinki have different capabilities, just like the difference between carrying a sword, a bow, or both.

And yes, it's working out well for both of us so far.

Precisely! Even better still, some shinki come with power boosts, healing abilities, or other similar skills that aren't directly related to combat, but are still useful in a fight. A god with many shinki could potentially be extremely powerful, especially if they're all working in unison.

That's true. I hadn't considered that possibility. Gods like that must be very impressive, both to be able to fight with so many shinki at once and to be able to care for them in general.

I hope to become a god like that some day. I know we're not supposed to be here, but I don't think I should let something like that come between me and my ambition.

It's the caring part that's going to be difficult.

Well, I suppose dealing with shinki in a more professional sense would also work. I've just never been good at that sort of thing. I'd rather try to be friends.

A common trait among the gods here. Maintaining a professional distance is something I'm much more accustomed to, but it's not so easy a feat when you're all so young.

[He's only slightly teasing about that. He really is worried that friendly teenagers are ruining his hard-won detachment. Losing Ekko was a shock enough, any more of this, and he's going to have a problem.]

Well, perhaps I should hold onto your finished commission, then. We wouldn't want to get too friendly.

∠(ﾟДﾟ)/ Now wait a minute! I was under the impression that was a business transaction, you can't be withholding that from me! I'm a paying customer! I have the finest of tulles and lace on hand, just waiting for the transaction to be completed! Don't renege on your first contract, that sets a bad precedent!

Ah, I know. I just might have a certain flair for dramatics.

It doesn't convey well across text. Which is why I use emojis when I'm not being 100% serious.

Ah. I still have to get used to how those are used. We didn't have anything close to this form of communication in my world.

It's understandable; emojis are much like a second language in of themselves, with their use varying from person to person like a dialect. Some, like myself, use them facetiously. Others use them for emphasis, and even other still simply use them as punctuation. Which is which, you'll have to learn through experience.

Do you need a resource? The one I use has them sorted by emotion and action.

Sora linked me to one close to when I first arrived. I just haven't had the chance to really sit down and look at them all yet.

That's why I like mine. I only need to know what feeling I'm going for, then I can chose the one I find the most appealing from the page. It's much more efficient than sifting through unorganized emojis.

Yes, that does make it much easier. They really do manage to capture quite a range of thoughts and feelings.
