Of course. Excuse me. [He inclines his head politely as he steps over the threshold, casting a concerned glance at Sheryl's bandages. That bounce really isn't necessary, if her thighs are injured, but he's also not going to tell someone not to act healthier than they are. Pride, too, is important.]

You should sit down so that I can take a look at those injuries.

[Pride is one of many traits that Sheryl has in excess; appearing weak is no bueno even with bandages on the visible parts of her body (and not so visible ones like on her left hip). After Hakkai enters the temple, she closes the door and strides over to the living room, flopping down on the soft couch.]

I'm so glad this isn't a hospital. I've be bored to tears by all those white walls.

[Hospitals don't tend to have holographic displays of the sky as the ceiling, after all.]

I believe they have televisions in hospitals. At least there would be a little distraction.

[He leans over, skimming one clawed hand cautiously over the bandages. They are well wrapped; she's on her way toward healing, and he'd rather not take them all off and then have to find new. Instead, he focuses, lifting his hand away and avoiding a wince as he reaches out to curve both his hands together and summon energy between his palms. The arm that Goku had broken is still twinging, even if the bone is mostly knit: real healing takes longer, even sped by magic.

The vine-like markings on his hands shift subtly as he spreads them apart again and reaches to place them over Sheryl's leg. He'll work his way up; she's most likely to reopen the wounds on her legs in any case, he thinks with his mouth quirking into a tiny smile.]

So, while I do this, why don't you tell me how you've been? Is your shinki well -- Eno, wasn't it?

[It still takes effort and energy, but -- it seems to take so much less of it without his earrings. They truly had limited his power, not just changed his shape.]

[Sheryl gawks in surprise, first at seeing Hakkai's clawed hand, then at his hand movements before finally settling her gaze upon the vine-like markings on her leg. She gasps, suddenly feeling the sensations on her skin, not unlike how Ranka transferred the V-Type virus from her brain and safely traveled them to her stomach.

Not quite the same, but she latches on to that thought as energy spreads through her body.]

Oh, you know me. I'm feeling fine as always. [She says casually. Her eyes shift to the holographic display of the sky on the ceiling, constantly changing colors every minute.] All of my shinki are doing well, actually! Eno, Zoro, Barry...

Barry? That's a new name.

[There's a limit to how much this kind of healing can do; it'll close wounds, stop bleeding and accelerate recovery, but there's still going to be pain and weakness at the site of the injury until the flesh has time to knit and strengthen on its own. He blinks back a brief dizziness as he moves his hands to her other leg and re-focuses his energy.]

Did he appear recently?

[She can feel something happen in the wounds, stitching itself together. Difficult to describe, but noticeable enough that she chews on her bottom lip, biting back a hiss and a groan. As Hakkai focuses on her other leg, Sheryl thinks back on a certain rowdy shinki that she met on that day.]

He helped me out when I was separated from my shinki. [A beat.] On that day when those ayakashi attacked the Heavens. I had a little problem with them, so he found me and well...

["Little problem", what an understatement. She flicks her wrists casually, knitting her brows.]

The rest is history, you could say.

Ah... then we have him to thank for your not being any more seriously wounded than you are?

[Hakkai flashes her a quick smile before returning his attention to the injuries. Most of the death toll had been concentrated in the Great Hall, and so most of it had been among the older gods and shinki. Goku, unlimited, is a very dangerous opponent.]

[For a brief second, Sheryl looks like she'd been caught with her hand in the forbidden cookie jar, then her expression changes, her cheeks making a semi-decent rendition of a pufferfish.]

W-Well...

[She huffs, folding both arms across her chest as she averts her gaze to one side. There's no point in lying about her condition when it's visible, or to deny that people did have something to do with her being still alive. Her gaze falls to the curled hands on her lap, then she sighs.]

I wish I never have to see those monsters again.

[Or see another disaster taking place at the Heavens again, or see any of her friends get hurt.]

[Hakkai chuckles lightly at her flustered reaction. If she doesn't want to be teased about her injuries, then next time, she'll have to work harder not to get hurt!]

I'm sure next time it'll be different monsters.

[After all, he'd seen Susano'o's mangled corpse in the Great Hall, and his failure to reappear seems suggestive of actual death. That god had never been quiet, and his bizarre modified ayakashi are likely exterminated for good.]

[Somehow, Sheryl is preferring Hakkai's math problems over getting injured. Somehow... not that she'll admit this, of course. It might give him ideas.]

Don't remind me!

[She groans, rubbing her face with both hands. For as long as Sheryl remains in this place, dealing with the ayakashi is inevitable. At least neither Alto nor Ranka have to see them, or her in this current state.]

Such a pain, but... I'll have to deal with them.

I suppose it's part of our job as gods and shinki.

[His tone is gentle; he lifts his hands away, finally, folding them on his knee.]

Your legs should heal in a few days, but please, don't stress them too much in the meantime! No dancing.

I have a lot of people counting on me, so...

["I won't let them down" is left unsaid, her words trailing off. Once Hakkai is done, Sheryl lifts a leg a bit before a sigh of relief slips out of her, an expression of gratitude across her face.]

Okay, okay, fine! [A small laugh.] No dancing, no running, no moving around so much. Got it.

Exactly!

[He smiles at her and inclines his head.] I should let you get to your work, now, shouldn't I, Sheryl? Please take care.

Thanks again, Mr. Hakkai!

[Sheryl gathers both knees to her chest, one arm around them as she waves goodbye.]

[He smiles, lifting a hand in a return good-bye wave before he turns to go.]
