From: Ginia
Date: April 26th
I'm Ginia, shinki to Chris and Ebisu. I found a new use for borderlines I want to share with everyone.
[Ginia, dressed in a black suit and wearing a dark green tie, smiles and waves at the camera before she begins signing. A calm alto voice provides voiceover.]
A few weeks ago, I found a journal in the library belonging to a shinki from a few centuries ago. They had a theory a borderline could fill a space in more than a vertical or horizontal configuration. It's easy for a shinki to block a hallway or window with a borderline, but what about something irregularly shaped and without damaging the space around it?
The author never figured out a practical application for the theory. They realized while the control in itself was impressive, it was rare a shinki would need to shield something to a specific shape when simply casting a borderline in front or behind the target would do.
However, borderlines don't only have to shield or cut. Studying the theory, I realized the motions were similar to my boyfriend's vessel ability. I decided to combine the two ideas into a healing spell.
[The camera angle cuts to an overhead angle. There's a person’s hand on the table, fresh cat scratches raking across the skin. Across from them, Ginia's left hand (identifiable by the red 発 on the back of her hand) drops into the halberd position for borderlines.]
Use the halberd position for borderlines and draw a line around the injury as close as possible. You want to focus on a borderline as you draw it out. You also have to draw a continuous line and this requires physical contact. This can work through clothing, but it’s better if you can see the injury to know the full shape.
[Ginia's fingers circle around the injury, a glowing line on skin left behind her fingers. She creates a closed circle and flicks her fingers toward the center of the circle as it’s completed, her right hand signing "Line!" The circle glows as it covers the scratches.]
Once you cast the borderline, you want to hold it and channel energy into it. You can feel when the spell is no longer healing, especially in the case of deeper injuries, but you can still maintain it. It's possible I don't have the skill yet for deeper injuries, but it could still prevent blood loss.
[Ginia releases the borderline. The glow disappears and the scratches are gone without a trace of a scar. The angle cuts back to a front view.]
The spell works on bruises, scrapes, first-degree burns, and cuts that aren't too deep. No luck with broken bones, though it'll ease the pain. It might work better on sprains. It does not work on blight and I can’t imagine it would do much for illness. It works on gods and shinki.
Thank you for your time. If you have any questions, I’ll answer as much as I can. I'll also help anyone who wants practice.
[A written transcript is included after the video.]
((ooc: For spell specifics, this is a healing spell for mild injuries (shallow cuts, bruises, light burns/blisters, sprains). This would not heal a broken bone or deep cut, but could stabilize/soothe the injury until someone with stronger healing magic could look at it. This will not treat blight or illness.
This is considered a Tier 1 shinki spell, don't forget to comment on the Shinki Spell page if your character wants to learn the spell! You don't have to comment here to learn the spell either.)

[Minus the types that are really nice and sweet and then end up locking you in a cage. Dammit, visual novels, why do you always wound like that?]
He really does. Kimi's the kind of guy that's completely shameless and likes teasing, but he's completely sincere and knows when to be serious. He's been a shinki for a long time so he's so grounded, but it seems like it's a natural part of him too.
I first met him when he asked for help with a prayer. He was so charming and relaxed. No matter what happened, he rolled with it. I've always admired that about him.

[ Which also seems to be what Ginia likes about him, judging by what she's saying. Not that Minako thinks Ginia is weak or is implying as much by saying this - if anything, Ginia herself usually seems pretty cool to Minako. But maybe she could use someone to rely on in a more emotional than physical sense? ]
Do you guys go on many dates? You have so many opportunities for that, especially if you're from the same temple!

[Strengths and weaknesses are relative and in her time with the Mi Clan, she's learned to gradually accept her weaknesses. She is an emotional mess and may be for some time, but it's slowly getting sorted out with the support of everyone in her temple, especially Kimi. That he's okay with her taking as much time as she needs to sort things out, it's nice to hear.
"I'm right here." Those three words mean a lot to her.]
He was my plus one to Aymeric and Leo's wedding, does that count? Most of our dates are working together or sitting down for a meal together. With how busy things are at the temple, we can't take time to go off on a day on our own. Don't worry, I went in knowing that.

But then it continues into something that's definitely No Good. She frowns, although with the puffy expression on Minako's face, it seems more playful than deadly serious. ]
But it's no good if you guys can't even get a single day off for a date, that's so unfair! It's not as if you have to go on one every day, but.. you should have a few special days for that! It's so important!
no subject
a date, it'll be all the more special, right?
[Hopefully nothing ruins it. Like ayakashi. Or the cult attacking. Or some other kind of disaster.]
It's like not it's always boring desk work too. We both work in tourism so sometimes we're working in interesting or scenic places. Ebisu has a lot of shrines so it's pretty easy getting around.
no subject
That's still work though.. [ And while going to other people's weddings together can be romantic, work is never romantic, okay! .. Although that might just be Minako's lack of enthusiasm for work unless it's something that interests her speaking. ]
Is Ebisu that cruel of a god that he won't even let you have some time off to go on dates? I'm sure I could go on dates all the time if I wanted to!
[ Except there's the whole thing about her having a problem with love in general, but shh, that's not relevant here right now. ]

But he's a God of Fortune in all aspects of the term. A lot of work comes through his temple and we're doing all we can to stay on top of things. Nothing is stopping us from going off on a date, but it wouldn't be fair to everyone else. It's not like we're the only people who want some time to ourselves.
no subject
[ It's something Minako hasn't really considered before. She loves being Zelda's shinki, and it's not as if she never puts in any work at her own temple or anything, but working 24/7.. Will she have to start doing that sort of thing too if her goddess gets more and more followers? ]
I mean.. I don't mean it in a bad way, since I guess it's kind of admirable that you can work so hard. But it also sounds so sad.
1/2
[It's the public, PR-friendly view at least. No one in the temple pretends everything is fine because they're all drowning under work. It's not the kind of thing Ginia wants to gripe about openly though because it's connected to a lot.
But it's Minako and she's caring. Besides, she was at the meeting in December. How much she was paying attention is a question of its own (and really, that was a long and dry meeting), but she was there.
It's not like Ebisu's execution is a secret, but it's still a delicate matter. Especially since the murder of the Mi Clan is less known.]
2/2 | Private Text here on out
also private text here from now on!
Isn't that since he's younger than those other gods here?
[ Yes, she decided to type too now since this seems extra secret somehow. It's not quite secret when Minako is just saying all of it out loud with her usual volume. ]

He's one of the oldest gods around. When an old god dies, as long as enough people believe in them, they reincarnate as a child without any memories.
Before any of us showed up, Heaven executed Ebisu.
[That's the easy part to share, strangely enough. Public knowledge, already shared by others, it's not the worst thing coming from her when she's one of Ebisu's shinki.
The next part...]
Many of his shinki died too. Old shinki don't come back from death, not like us.
no subject
[ Minako doesn't really have any personal attachment to Ebisu whatsoever, but the idea of an execution still doesn't feel too great. Especially not without knowing the why. But what feels even worse about the thought is the question of whether it could happen again.
Except this time Ginia is one of his shinki. And Ginia's boyfriend. Minako's stomach turns. ]
Do you know why it all happened?
no subject
[It's risky saying so much. It's a part of the story less spoken about, but Ginia wonders what Heaven would say if asked. Would they deny any of it?]
Heaven thought he was responsible for controlling ayakashi with masks.
no subject
[ She isn't sure whether Ginia knows that, but on the other hand.. she doubts Ginia would want to be a shinki for anyone who's been proven to have done something objectively bad. ]
no subject
But being short-sighted and focused on what they think is right contrary to other evidence is what Heaven seems to do time and time again.]
Heaven was wrong.
The temple has been understaffed since then. I see empty desks, but my coworkers know who used to sit there and a year is barely any time for an old shinki.
So we're overworked and we're going to be overworked, but it's what we have to do to keep going. I'm sure in time more shinki will come here again and we'll have enough people to spread out the workload.
But that's why Kimi and I can't just take a day off to go on a date. It really isn't fair to everyone else and we'd never catch up on work. Besides, if there is a chance to go on a date, I want to go on it knowing the rest of my temple is able to enjoy a day off too.

You must really like Ebisu and everyone else there.
[ Otherwise Ginia could have easily lived with a different god. So many of the new ones are welcoming and friendly. Why would she stick with the one that's making her work this hard if she didn't like it there, right? ]
I really hope you guys get more help soon then. I understand that maybe there's no other way right now, but.. I really mean it that working yourself to the bone is no way to live. Especially not infinitely.
no subject
[No one has to stay at a temple they don't want to. They're all nora so it's harder to find someone that will accept them, but no one is staying because it's the only option they have. Things are stressful, but they're watching out for each other.]
Thanks. We're getting some help with people working part-time at the temple, so there's some improvement.
By the way, if you need spending money, pay starts at 4000 yen an hour.
no subject
[ So she says, but in the back of her head she's already considering her options.. She's mostly trying to form a plan to ensure that Ginia and her new boyfriend will be able to go on a non-work date, one way or another. She's determined to be everyone's matchmaker. Or.. datemaker, in this case. But subtly and secretly!
(Because clearly Minako is the queen of being subtle, right.) ]
You should totally introduce him to me sometime though. Maybe I'll run into you guys one day while you're working?
no subject
[See the opportunity, take the opportunity.]
I'll see what I can do. Definitely say hi if you see us, though feel free to introduce yourself if you see him around. He's a people person.
Oh, though say you know Jitsumi if you ever see him. It's what everyone calls me in Ebisu's temple.

Got it! Thanks for all the information. And also for teaching everyone that spell. You're so sweet!
