... So I went to sleep last night, and found myself home. Went through a whole couple months, a bunch of shit happened, and then I wake up here again after it's all over. Kinda feeling jerked around a bit, but what's happened has happened.

Anyway, I've been hearing prayers from people whose relationships are in trouble lately, and if this place is going to insist I be a love goddess, then I guess I'd better do something about it. Problem is, the soulless shinki this place assigned me and I haven't been getting on at all, and considering it's been a few months since I saw him from my perspective, I don't think it'd be a good idea to try and force it.

This isn't easy to admit, but if I'm gonna do this, I need help. Would anyone be willing to help me stake out the Tokyo Museum for a few nights? There's definitely ayakashi involved, so I definitely know I shouldn't go it alone.

[Chris is glad she already made the rest of their conversation private.] Her name is Maria. We're not as close as I am with Tsubasa-senpai, or Hibiki, but she's still my friend. She and I have a lot in common, and I try to look after her two adopted sisters when she's overseas. We were the first in our group to pull off a unison outside of our usual partnerships, which is a thing when our songs and powers combine with one another. And she's a shinki here. Meaning that in some reality, she died, and there was nothing our team could do to save her. If that happened to senpai too... I don't. I don't know how I'd even react. I hate that that's how I feel. Elfnein and another guy gave me same great advice, but... I feel like I'm playing favorites with the people who are important to me.

Okay. Now that I look at it the "ancient knowledge" part will probably sound magic-y, but it's still totally different!

I don't know. I can find out. We have so many movies and video games, though. Raiders of the Lost Ark, Tomb Raider, Halo... things like that.

Even if you have to use advanced technology for it, you still have those powers then, right? That's practically the same thing!

[It's easier for a shinki; they don't know who they've forgotten, can't know unless a stroke of luck gives them a memory back. But gods know and they have to suffer in silence.]

I'm sorry, that must be difficult knowing someone and not having them remember you. I wish I could say more, but in truth, I don't know what else to say.

... It's something I need to work out for myself. I can't keep unloading on you like this, Irisviel. I'm sure it's just as hard for a shinki, not remembering anything. And... I have to be supportive for my friends, even if it's hard. Thank you for letting me vent, at least.

You need to use magic to be a magical girl! How can anyone argue against that?! ... And it's not all it's cracked up to be, you know. It's pretty dangerous. You're in danger and sometimes you lose people.

Yeah. I like those movies but the important part is not giving him ideas.

I mean.. If you want to get technical about it, then isn't that just the way everyone lives? Look at me, I'm dead and I don't remember facing a single hideous monster thing before I died!

People die of all sorts of things! Car accidents, illnesses.. Life is dangerous in general, so you might as well be doing something worthwhile and cool while you're at it.

... You have a really. Interesting way of looking at the world. Reminds me of someone I know. Except she has a sense of what being in danger does to the people around her.

Look, it's good you want to live life to the fullest, but holding the kind of power I do isn't something that just anyone is prepared to handle. It's been as much of a burden to me as it's opened doors for me, but I also had to go through hell to see it that way. Maybe you are cut out for being the kind of magical girl you see on TV, but on my end it feels like there's a world of difference.

Several months... Yes, that is consistent with what others have gone through. Twice now I've seen it make people's hair grow out, they feel like they've been gone so long.

Of course, the time didn't really pass for us here. It never does, not as long as it seems.

It is. It's strange knowing things, but not knowing where they're from or why. But at the same time, I'm making new memories here and learning new things too. It'll be okay.

I legitimately wish I could be as warm-hearted and easy going as you are. I hope this doesn't sound strange, but. Talking to you reminds me of what it was like spending time with my mom and my friend growing up, Sonia.

He's already pretty different from what history says about him in my world, so I'm scared to think of how that applies to this version of him.

It depends in part on how the people who taught him how to fight and how they approached training in his armies were.
