My new shinki woke up grumpy this morning. He may also be planning on sneaking in where he shouldn't be. I'm both apologizing in advance, and sharing an image of his current appearance just in case:



He likes dried fish, large pillows, and ear scratches. Be wary of touching his tail or his belly, and especially do not offend him by claiming that he is an inferior creature. I will not be held responsible for the damages he will cause.

Keeping any of them at arm's length is impossible. I hesitate at saying or doing something that I remember from before until after they remind themselves of what they are. Like Da Qing. I knew he is a Yashouren from the Cat Tribe, but I waited for his cat form to appear before calling him one.

I guess I'll wait to see if she remembers anything.

But... the really hard part is knowing there's a reality where she died and the others and I couldn't protect her.

I may not be a memory as you know them, but their personalities, likes and dislikes are still there. You just need to tread carefully and do not go into specifics concerning them. You can talk about yourself fine even in front of them, just not about them personally.

I know. The best thing to do is to make up for that here without letting it slip that you knew them before.

That last part was more anger or frustration at myself than anything. If there's a version of me who can't protect her comrades, then that means the same is true of me.

Shouldn't it mean that you just have to become stronger? A failure shouldn't mean that there is no hope.

... Yeah. Maybe that's why I'm here. To make me stronger for what's next. I don't believe in cosmic destiny crap, but... if I can make it true, that's something else.

No, I just didn't pay attention, and didn't realize what God you were until you told me.

It's fine. I barely know much about what I am suppose to be doing considering all the research I have been putting in.

It's not from a lack in trying, I can assure you. Some of the information I wish to know is not open to newcomers like myself.

Chris Yukine. Nice t'meet you Shen Wei. Heh, it's weird. A while ago I'd be nervous to even give my name out, and call someone by theirs.

It is odd, but I suppose they don't care as long as we do our duties. Whatever they may be.

Answer prayers. Honestly, we seem less like gods and more like public servants.

If you look at why we do that, it's more of a mutually benefiting system. We answer the prayers, the more they are answered, the better our temples and pay becomes, and so on.

I guess. It just seems to take some of the mystique out of being a deity.

I never thought of them ever having any mystique, but that could be because of too much studying.

Honestly though, it is just another job with a bit more shine to it.

Well, it's kind of a lateral move for me, and it comes without having all my friends, school, or favorite restaurants. But. I'll try to make the best of it.
