Does anyone know what the best way to get a gun would be? I suppose I could simply steal one from the Near Shore, but it doesn't seem right.

If anyone is willing and able to provide a gun, I can pay you in good fortune of some sort; I have some control over that as a god. I don't really have much money here in the Far Shore, even if I was rich while I was alive...

Well, it might be more advanced in my world than it is in yours. We all come from different worlds, don't we? There's no reason our technology would necessarily be at the same level.

I will say, though, that the simulation we were in was definitely cutting edge for its time...probably the work of multiple Ultimate talents. In my world, an Ultimate talent is someone whose talent for something is so developed that they're considered the absolute height of their field. An Ultimate Programmer probably wouldn't have too much difficulty creating a virtual reality indistinguishable from real life...

We are? [That explained a lot. Well apart from how it explained nothing but Suzaku had been wondering. There had been the odd thing people had spoken about that had left him confused, he had met a pony and a boy who had been orange and made of feathers. But as no one else seemed to react strangely to them he had just assumed it a consequence of his lack of memories that meant he found it strange.

Different worlds? More so than just the difference between the far shore and the near shore.

He reads the rest of the explanation.] So you were in such a reality as that?

Yes. It ties back into the memories I had erased...the virtual reality program was meant to be a sort of therapy, after erasing my memories of - well, I suppose the easiest way to explain it would be getting brainwashed. They hoped that if they excised the memories of the brainwashing, and then had us create new memories in a virtual space, we'd be cured.

[That was very strange; brainwashed and then mindwiped in the hope it would fix the brainwashing.] Did it work?

Hm...I'm not sure it worked in exactly the way they intended, but I'm certainly better off now than I was before. Ironically, apparently my classmates and I all regain our memories of the brainwashing later anyway...but it doesn't control us anymore. So it may be that the memory wipe and virtual world program were necessary to allow us to overcome it, but it wasn't precisely the memories themselves that were the problem.

It's honestly kind of confusing when I have to explain it like this...

It does sound very confusing. [But less confusing when framed in a knowledge that it's a different world. A little.]

You have not gained your memories back yet? But will later? [That was worded strange, apparantly... Like he didn't know for sure.]

Yes. We don't all just come from different worlds, but occasionally from different points in time from the same world. One of my classmates used to be here as a goddess; she was essentially from my future! Or I'm from her past, I guess. Anyway, she told me I'll eventually remember the memories we lost, and that the rest of my classmates do, too...but those things haven't happened for me yet.

[Wait. Different points in time? It hadn't been that long ago that another person on the BBS had told him that timetravel was not something possible. Yet apparantly not only could people come from different worlds to this one, but also different times.] So there are others, from your world but from your future here?

How is that possible?

[He has a feeling the answer will be that no one knows. But one day he might ask a question that has a definite answer.]

No, not now. Not that I know of, anyway. Tsumiki-chan has been gone for a little while now...

As for how it's possible, I'm not sure. But considering we seem to be pulled from different worlds, if not different universes, being pulled from different times doesn't seem that much more improbable than anything else here, so I suppose I haven't wondered much about it. It doesn't seem as though we'll get any answers.

I'm sorry. [People disappearing was worrying, Suzaku hadn't known anyone who had disappeared, he hoped that he wouldn't for a long time even if it was common enough that that was probably impossible. He imagined that for those that had known people a long time, longer than they had been here the loss would be felt more keenly.

There might be people from Suzaku's world here. He wouldn't know. That felt strange but the feeling that urged him to step away whenever he started thinking about anything before the last few weeks stopped him from going further down that line of thought.]

It seems there are not many answers to many things here.

That might just be the Ultimate Understatement!

I appreciate the offer, but I think there's someone else who has more than one gun who might be willing to give me one. I feel like if I take your only gun, that just leaves someone else unarmed instead, right?
