[The video opens up with a little bit of tilting to make sure the view is set straight, and that of a small child leaning forward with intense interest. Something apparently is apparently signalled to him offscreen, however, because he promptly straightens.]

Greetings! I know that some of you met me the other day during the training session at the Heaven's meeting hall, but I would like to formally introduce myself to those who haven't. I am Ebisu, God of Fortune regarding commerce and fishing.

I've been very busy as of late, but things have slowed down enough that I think I will be able to interact with this new generation of gods and their shinki. I hope to work alongside all of you as best as I can.

Please treat me well.

[Oh, what a charming young boy! And a God of Fortune, no less! How impressive.

Ayumu's own video response is as casual as ever, depicting her lazing on her bed in a long-sleeved grey dress. She's dangling a piece of string tied to an butterfly hairclip as a makeshift toy for the rather boisterous calico kitten romping across her covers in view of the phone.]

I'm Ayumu. It's very nice to meet you! I imagine life as a God of Fortune must be very busy. But commerce and fishing are both so important to Japan's prosperity. Thank you very much for everything you do.

[Her smile's friendly and she looks genuinely interested in his field of work. But is it honest or is she simply buttering up a potential connection with a God of Fortune? It's hard to tell from appearances alone.]

[Oh, how casual. Then again, he guesses it is just a cellphone network that anyone can hop onto at any time... He still smiles politely.]

Thank you, Ayumu-san. I actually have very big goals on how to further draw Japan on the path of economic success- Oh, Kiwami is shaking his head slowly.

....I think that means I should stop. I guess it is a complicated subject matter for a first conversation....

Are you a shinki, Ayumu-san?

You fish?

[HE CAN TEXT- hold on a minute, Hakkai, a change of hands needs to happen here.]

Yes, I do. It's one of the physical things that I've been good at from the start. Do you like to fish, Hakkai-san?

To tell the truth, I haven't tried fishing in a long time! I generally spend more time around my garden.

But I'm glad to hear you're good at it. That must be a relief for your shinki.

[Not that he had any mental images of Ebisu tripping and someone ending up in the path of a hook. Not at all.]

[Ah, so Ebisu has someone supervising him. That's good to know. Ayumu files that information away. Whether it's a complicated matter or he has someone very shrewd looking out for him, Ayumu's willing to back off just a little.]

Yes, I am. I'm a servant of Sanzang-sama, the current incarnation of Kanzeon, goddess of mercy.

[There's a tone of genuine pride and fondness in her tone. It's clear that she's not looking to trade up and she's quite content with her current god.]

And I don't mind hearing about it sometime. I'm interested in learning more about many subjects, including matters of business. One never knows when that knowledge might come in handy.

[Hakkai, stop thinking about child murder, this one still has a solid opinion about you.]

Yes. They like that I have something to do.

Is your garden one for medical herbs, Hakkai-san?

[That sort of emotion comes in clear to him, at least, and Ebisu gives an approving nod. It's good to know that Kanzeon treats her shinki well.]

[But that's for later, and faint sparkles can possibly be seen in his eyes.]

There's a lot of mathematics involved. Is that alright?

It's fine. I'll do my best to follow along.

[It's not that Ayumu's bad at math. She's actually pretty good at it and has a good head for business and financial matters in general. It's just that education standards have shifted substantially between her time and present day.]

So what plans do you have?

[He's so young...]

It is nice to meet you, Ebisu. Commerce and fishing are very important domains.

I wish to thank you and your shinki for helping in the blighted area too.

Welcome little god, I'm not of much use because all I do is train and spent time with my boyfriend, but welcome any way!

Then it's settled!

[Despite seeming to be glowing with energy, Ebisu still takes care to not rush getting off the chair. This... may have something to do with the male voice behind the camera phone going "Be careful, Young Master."]

[Soon, however, with the camera following him, he goes over to a large and finely made desk, scrambling up onto another chair behind it. There is a whole lot of technology here, Ayumu... Obediently, the cameraman repositions himself so that he's behind Ebisu's shoulder to get a good look at the screens.]

So, to start with, these are Japan's notable exports-

[Did you want a sudden economics lesson, Ayumu? Because, you're... going to be getting one.]

It's what we do every year.

[Or so he's been told.]

However, my shinki and I were unprepared for this kind of event. I'm not sure how well we would have done if this new generation of gods weren't present. The casualties would have been worse on the Near Shore.

I'm surprised to hear that you have a boyfriend. Sometimes that can be difficult for shinki, or so I've been told.

[It's.... totally not because his shinki are worked to the bone... ha ha...]

What do you train for?

The meeting? Or holding off blighted areas?

[Because if the possibility of a blighted area is a thing that happens every year and the gods knew and didn't say anything, that changes things.

However, she's not here to pick a fight with a god, much less a god of fortune and child. She can sympathize with his words too.]

My opinion may not mean much, but I think it would have been worse if you and your shinki weren't already there. We helped, yes, but we were only able to accomplish so much because you and your shinki already had the situation under control.

I could have been worse, but it wasn't.

So thank you again.

It is, but we're making the most of it.

For anything that might happen. I wanna be strong enough to protect the ones that matter to me, and everyone that lives here.

[It is a whole lot of technology and Ayumu eyes it with the same mild curiosity she does with most gadgets she has little comprehension of. While Ebisu's moving, Ayumu's kitten continues to playfully rampage, giving up on batting at the toy to hug her hand completely. She gently bops the kitten on the nose with a firm, 'no biting', before disengaging her hand to pet him properly.

Time to calm down, little one. It's lesson time. Gradually, the kitten realizes that his new mom means it and they both settle in for the impromptu economics lesson.

Unlike most conversations involving magic or technology, Ayumu's actually a pretty engaged listener on this subject. Then again, economics is a practical subject and those have always been much easier for her to grasp.]

That's a very good goal for a shinki. Who is your god?

The meeting. Very few of my past reincarnations have ever attended it either.

[....So he's been told, although that seems right. It would have been interesting, but...]

I'm glad my shinki were able to give you such a good impression.

[She wants to ask why, but it seems rude to ask nor is it any of her business. At the same time, she can't help but wonder what kept him from attending in previous years.]

I hope the new gods and their shinki were also able to give a good impression.

[It.... goes on for a while. And a while. Does Ayumu really want to be here for an hour...]

[Fortunately, it doesn't go on for that long (this time) before the camera is jostled a little bit, and Ebisu pauses in his gesturing of some Very Important Graphs to look up.]

Oh. It's probably time for your break, isn't it, Kuwami? [They don't... get a lot in the temple...] I might have to live it here, Ayumu-san, but I'd be glad to talk with you more about it later.

Would you ever want to come to my temple sometime for more on it?

You don't have to worry. I had heard good things before about all of you but this is the first time I was able to get a firsthand look at it.

This new generation seems like it will be a good one.

I'd be delighted to, Ebisu-sama. That was very educational.

[Some of it was a little more complex than her education had covered but all in all, Ayumu got the gist of the concepts involved, she thinks. And it's refreshing to hear about something, well, normal as opposed to the usual interpersonal drama and bloodshed that tends to spill over into her life. Business might be competitive but it doesn't usually lead to horrific violence.]

Oh, are there any snacks you like? If it's okay with you and your shinki, I'd like to bring over some treats when I come by.

[He's such a cute, well-mannered, and clearly hard-working young god. Of course, she's going to try to feed him.]

You know you can just keep your name, right?

[That's kind of funny advice, since this is being posted from behind the name of a God, as well.]

[He was really thinking of something much closer to "accidental mayhem." He's seen Ebisu try to walk down a level path. He knows.]

Medical and culinary herbs, yes. Although it's not so clear-cut a distinction as it may sound.
