(With life comes death. Sansa knows this lesson intimately, but the mourning is never easier to bear.)

Some would think me ridiculous. (She is definitely teary-eyed and her complexion is a little blotchy. No one looks good crying, okay.) I have said farewell to one of my sheep. She was sweet and I think she was old when we met.

(Her pygmy goat is resting in her lap, trying to be a comfort.)

If...someone could help me move her? I know the wolves would be appreciative of the gift.

Yeah, sure. I can give you a hand.

Thank you very much. (All of the animals that frequent her temple are precious to her. She wants to do right by them.) Do you need directions?

Yeah, I'd appreciate that.

[ a beat. ]

It's no problem, anyway.

(Directions will be sent to him in the form of a hand-drawn - but neat and precise - map.)

The other sheep might greet you on your way. They seem to know something has changed.

Thanks. And hey, that's alright. Animals are pretty smart.

I'll be there soon. I'm Noctis.

They have more intelligence than I ever gave them credit. (She scratches behind her little goat's ears.)

Nice to meet you, Noctis. I'm Sansa or Dali.

Honestly? Yeah, I agree.

I'll see you soon, Sansa.

[ And it doesn't take him too long, either. When he arrives at her temple, he takes a look around before calling out, ]

Sansa?

(A pygmy goat will find him first, eager to greet any guests with a happy bounce. Sansa is not far behind, wearing a dress in grey. She has attempted to clean up after crying, but there is still evidence of it around her eyes.)

She is this way. (The goat trots after Sansa as she turns to lead.) I am not very strong, but I will help you. We might even see the wolves; they are usually not far at this time.

[ Oh man... Noctis gives the goat a little pat and he lifts a hand in greeting before he falls into step beside her. ]

I don't mind carrying it myself. You've been through enough today, anyway.

(Noctis is a nice man, so he gets a friendly head butt. Sansa gives a weak smile, her hands crossed before her.)

I should consider it an honor. She was a good friend in her own way.

(She guides them to the poor, motionless sheep. The little pygmy goat takes his leave, chasing after a new adventure. There are plenty to find around Dali's temple and this isn't comfortable for him.

Sansa kneels down and gently readjusts the flowers woven around the sheep's neck. It's a nice farewell, she thinks.)

[ Scritchy scritchy! What a good goat. ]

Then you should definitely give a hand.

[ Noctis follows, hands in his pockets, and frowns as he kneels down, too, to give it a pat. ]

... The flowers are pretty. It's a good final gift to her.

(He is, yes he is! Does Noctis like his little bell too? He is awfully proud of it.)

This is more than I could do for my family.

(She lifts the sheep's head carefully, gazing at the flowers.)

Do you have family here? Or back home?

...o-oh...Ah'm sorry.

That...ain't ridiculous at all.

Ah can help move her. [She'd rather bury the poor thing but it ain't her sheep and everyone deals differently.] Ah've...had to move livestock before. Farmer an' all...

Then could you give me advice on what more I can do for them? (She lets them graze as they please and take shelter, but she knows from owning Lady for a short while that there is more to caring for animals than that.) I know death is natural and she wasn't sick as far as I had seen, yet I am responsible for her and all the rest.

It..may have jus' been her time. They're pretty long-lived for critters, but...

[Death comes to all. It is not a lesson she likes, but one she knows as well. More so as a soldier.]

Ah can sure try, though. It'd be easier to do when Ah can see 'em. All sheep are different, after all, like any other critter. Do ya know what sort they are?

I've noticed her walking slower and with more care. She kept to her routine, but it seemed to take effort.

(She knows about death; it's a natural part of life, though it comes unnaturally so often. If her dear sheep passed at her time, she will do her best to be happy for her.)

Let me show you. (She walks a short distance from her tower and reveals the flock.) They frightened me at first - their horns could do a lot of damage - but they listen to me and they even shared their lambs with me.

I could help.

[He pauses.]

... Do you have to give her to the wolves?

[After all, mutton is quite good, even old mutton....]

How so? (She is curious about the question.) No, I do not have to, but I thought it might go to waste otherwise. I do not have the strength to prepare the meat for myself.

I am quite large, and so it would be easy for me to move her.

And if you do not want the meat to go to waste, perhaps it could be roasted, or stewed, with onions.

[He pauses thoughtfully.]

And spices.

I have never prepared an animal in that manner. Do you know how it is done?

(She isn't against the idea: he does make a nice point.)

I take it you are not human?

Yes.

[He thinks. Guessing what he knows how to do is always dubious, but he can name many important steps in stewing and roasting, and so he thinks he might know how to cook meat, after all.]

I am a dragon. I believe we had tea together, when I first arrived?

[She looks familiar, although many humans do look the same....]

Um, sorry about your pet. Do you need some help? Are you ok? Don't feel bad. It's normal to be uspet around death. [Doesn't quite knows why he feels that way or what drew him to this video, but if the girl needs help he'll help.]

Thank you. (The kindness is really all she needs. It's very precious and she will never take it for granted.) I think she went peacefully and that is all I can hope for anyone.

You're absolutely right. Few of us get a peaceful end. When it happens we should be grateful. I can help you move her if you still need help. Where are you?

I would be most appreciative of your aid. She is too heavy for me to lift and she cannot remain where she fell. (Poor thing. Sansa just wants to do right by her. She will send him a map to Dali's temple a moment later.) There is a large tower that stands alone in the middle of the temple. As you approach it, you can find me to the right.

Thank you, I'll be there as soon as I can.

[It takes about half an hour, then there's a knock at the door.]

(She answers the door herself, dressed in the colors of mourning. The sheep's death has reminded her of how she lost her family. This might be a way for her to finally lay them to rest in her mind and her heart.)

Welcome. Thank you for coming. (Stepping back inside, she glances at him curiously.) Would you like anything to drink?

[Eric doesn't take much notice of the clothes.] No problem. I'm Eric. [He smiles.] Well sure, sounds good. What have you got? [He sits down and puts his feet up]

Well met, Eric. (It feels odd to use no titles, but it would be rude to presume.) I have juice, ale, wine and fresh water.

Wine is good for me. Then I'll help you with your sheep. Sorry, by the way. How long did you know her?

[Oh...oh, no. Death is never easy no matter who or what has passed. Lucina may not know this woman, but she feels sorry regardless, and can't help but think of the cats (and dogs, by now) that have taken up residence in her temple.]

it isnt ridiculous to be sad when you lose someone precious to you
even if it is an animal or perhaps especially
i have found that even though they do not talk as we do they have much wisdom to impart and much love to give
may she find peace in the afterlife and watch over you and your flock fondly

(Animals can hold a special place when someone spends their days at their side. Sansa never foresaw herself tending to a flock of sheep or owning a pygmy goat. The wolf pack makes more sense, oddly enough, but they are not the ones she worries about the most.)

Thank you. I think, in a way, this is better for her. She had been struggling, but I hadn't minded walking slower for her.

They have given me peace and contentment. I remember when I first arrived at the temple, one of the ewes brought me her lamb. That was a gift - a show of trust - and I will remain loyal to them.

i had never thought of it in that way
i met mother cat while answering my first prayer and she chose to come home with us
perhaps that was her deciding to put trust in us
she hasnt left yet so i suppose we earned it

You are blessed to have her. People can lie and use one another, but animals are pure in their intentions. They choose to be with us because it is their true desire.

so i have learned
before this i had never gotten the chance to bond with any kind of animal

I am happy you have the opportunity. I had a Direwolf once, but that was years ago.

what is a direwolf like
is it very different from a not dire wolf

They are much larger wolves, essentially. My Lady was very gentle, but not all Direwolves have that sort of nature. They can be very ferocious.

i would have never expected any kind of wolf to make a companion
but now that i think of it dogs are similar to wolves are they not

My family has a bond with Direwolves. We thought them extinct until my father and brothers found pups in the forest.

I don't think I'm the first person to tell you that you're not being ridiculous. Even if it's a sheep, that sort of thing is still a living being. And it's something you shared a home with.

So....

Anyway, it seems like you have more than enough people on hand to help you move it, as far as I can tell.

I agree wholeheartedly. (Sansa may not believe in the Seven anymore, but she does believe in the sanctity of life. It should not be taken easily or without reason.) You are kind to offer. My temple is open to any guests - the distraction would be welcome if you have the time.

Oh, of course. I suppose I can make it over.... Where is your temple, exactly?

(She sends a hand-drawn - but accurate - map to her tower.)

[Inspecting the map, he tries to gauge out a rough estimate in his head.]

I think I should be fine. I'll try to make my way there soon, alright?
