I was curious, apologies if this has been asked before, but what are some hobbies people could pick up?

I'm trying to get used to this world here. I'd like to do something more than train...

[He pauses.]

Except fishing. Fishing I've already gotten a number of lessons on.

I suppose browsing the internet doesn't count.

Mostly I just go out riding when there's nothing else going on.

(ooc: to be continued post hiatus. Need to get her enough exp to get her horse back.)

...A motorcycle?

oh um
It's like a car but with only two wheels instead of four?
Or basically like a horse but it's a machine.

Oh. I see.
Do you have it with you? I'd like to see it for myself.

[lookingforhead]

I'm out for a ride right now actually.
Where is good to meet?

[Don't text and drive folks. Celty just uses her powers to cheat.]

I can head anywhere.

[He chuckled a bit.]

[lookingforhead]

We might as well go to the Near Shore so that the noise doesn't bother anyone. I need to gas up anyway.

[She sends him directions to a convenience store not far from one of the ways between the two shores. She'll be waiting for him in the parking lot.]

I'll see you there.

[He does arrive at the convenience store, looking around, seeing if he can spot her.]

[Celty is keeping a low profile as she leans against her bike, her helmet making her stand out but to any passersby she just seems like any other bike enthusiast.

But Diarmuid will recognize her for who she is. Perhaps what she is, though that might be easier if she had her proper horse. But for now all she has is a motorcycle she took from some punk for harassing women.

She waves to him from the back of the lot as she spots him.]

[Oh, there she is. He nods and moves over to her, smiling and nodding.]

I was wondering if I would see you.

[lookingforhead]

I said I'd be here. Or did you get lost on the way?

[She tries to keep her shoulders as light as she can. She's joking and she doesn't want him to think she's trying to insult him.

Maybe she should add a smiley emoji? No, that's stupid.]

No, no! Not lost. Just wasn't sure.

[Hopefully she understands that's not what he means.]

It's my first time doing this.

[lookingforhead]

[Her shoulders shake in a soft chuckle.]

It's fine. I probably travel and explore more than most other Shinki or Gods do. It was a big relief when I got this bike, even if I stole it.

I took it from a thug who was about to attack a woman though.

[Whether it excuses her actions or not is in the eye of the beholder, but neither she nor Sharak seem troubled by the punishment she administered.]

Ah. Well I can't say you're wrong for doing so. I might not have kept it, though.

[Mainly because he doesn't know how to ride one.]

So how does this work, exactly?

I'm not a mechanic but I know the basics.

[She guides him through a brief explanation of how the bike works, pointing out the engine, the brakes and the throttle, doing her best to compare what they do to how one would control a horse. It seems like the best analogy and most of all it makes sense to her.]

Of course it makes a lot of noise and I need to come back to fill it with gas. It's not perfect but

it's better for me than just walking everywhere.

[The bike still doesn't feel like quite the proper fit to her but there's something about the speed and mobility it gives her that reaches some deep place inside her.]

[And Lancer listens carefully. Nodding as he tries to follow along carefully.]

I see. It's interesting. I... don't think it would be good around my god's temple.

[Because Mister Caster has no control.]

So you enjoy it?

[lookingforhead]

[There's no hesitation as Celty nods.]

I feel free when I ride around
no more than that
Complete. Almost anyway. It's not perfect, but I feel more myself than any other time.

I guess that makes sense for what I am.

[She pauses as she tries to get a handle on herself.]

Do you want to try?

I suppose it does. Enough sense, at least.

[Enough sense for Diarmuid to understand it. He gives a nod.]

You don't mind? Ah... do I need what you have?

[Pointing to the helmet.]

[lookingforhead]

Ah yes. That would be a good thing. Don't want you to get hurt.

[She holds her hand out palm up and shadows stream from her sleeves before forming into a pitch black helmet for him to wear.]

Thank you.

[He'd prefer green, but he won't complain about a free helmet. Placing it on his head, he moves to climb up onto the motorcycle.]

[Celty types out some brief instructions on how to use the bike, what to press and what to twist and how hard or not to do so. Once she's satisfied that Diarmuid has it all understood she steps back.

Hopefully his Strength and Agility stats make up for his lack of a Rider skill or That Lancer Luck.]

[Diarmuid nods for a moment and quickly climbs onto the motorcycle. He goes over the instructions on his head before giving it a start and going across the parking lot with relative ease.

And then he turns around and comes back. Again, just at the right speed and the right power.]

How was that?

[lookingforhead]

[There's a pause and then Celty nods, offering him a thumbsup. She had to get over being relieved the bike didn't go flying off out of control. But maybe Dia deserves more credit than that.]

Very good. You were careful not to put too much power into it. I'm impressed.
