From: Ciel Phantomhive (Asteria)
Date: September 7th
I have neglected to announce my presence in this manner and I am perhaps overdue. I am Ciel Phantomhive and I have discovered that I am filling in for the Grecian goddess Asteria. (An ironic choice for reasons he will never tell.) She is the Titan goddess of falling stars and nighttime divinations (such as oneiromancy (by dreams) and astrology (by stars)). She is also the mother of Hekate, goddess of witchcraft.
(He is sitting at a desk, glancing at an open book briefly with his uncovered eye.)
Are there any others who hail from the year 1889?

[ And since it's introductions times it's only right to respond in the same fashion. Although he uses his moniker instead of name ]
I go by Caster around here. No idea if you'll find someone from that specific year but I can at least confirm there are few of us from different times here.

(Sebastian has called them "lazy good for nothings", so maybe that answers that question.)
What year do you hail from, Caster?

And I guess some gods could be seen as leaders. But most were busy taking care of their own godly stuff - their own wars, their own goals. If they started paying attention to a mortal that is where troubles started.

Humans have the same selfishness. If we are direct reflections of the gods then no one is truly good or pure.

Maybe humans are so varied because they follow different gods? That's a food for thought. [ Every mythology seems to have a different origin story on how humans appeared first in this world. And since the morality of the gods also different from one pantheon to another, it's just taking Ciel's suggestion to a logical conclusion. ]

For example, killing another person cannot be acceptable outside of self-defense no matter your religion? (School him. He needs to know about the religions that are a far cry from monotheism/Christianity.)

Oh, our gods slaughtered each other so much that I doubt they'd bother with assuming a moral high-ground about act of killing.
[ Fomorians and Tuatha Dé Danann were always at each other throats ]
It was more about a "law", than "religion", you know? If you went and murdered your kin, that was the surest way to get yourself exiled, and then anyone was free to put your head on a pike. But people die all the time, and there were much worse offenses than just taking a life.

The God I am familiar with does no such thing, though I know of certain pantheons that are quite bloody.
(The pristine side of humanity and its dirty core.)
Much worse offenses? Such as?

[ Accidents happen. Sometimes those are not accidents, and maybe you just hated each other and decided to deal with it like good adults - prove yourself in a duel. Endless possibilities there ]
But if you broke your promise, or attacked someone under a friendly roof, you were as good as worthless.

But that's the thing, people are gone too quickly, so it's better to enjoy time with them to your fullest while they're still here. [ Grieve when they're gone, never forget them, but what else is there? If he hated every war, every order that took them away, he'd go insane. ]

Wouldn't you say that is a difficult lesson for a child to comprehend? (It's entirely unfair when a child's family is taken from them without warning.)

You asked the question, I've answered it. If it was too straightforward than it's because you don't seem like a naive and sheltered kid that couldn't handle it. But if I scared ya, that wasn't my intention, sorry. [ Genuine apology, no patronizing intended. ]

I am not so easily frightened. Your assessment of me was correct. (The last time he was truly frightened, he had been doused with mustard gas. So the reaction had been understandable.) As you can see, I am not built for taking up arms in the usual sense. But I can use my mind to eliminate my enemies.

So, a tactician. King Conchobar used to say we needed more of those. [ But instead he got stuck with a rowdy bunch of Red Branch Knights. ]
You've got enemies already at this age?
no subject
Not too many or you would get nothing done. (There can be too much of a good thing.)
I am not the first Phantomhive to acquire them in droves.

You might find your life here more peaceful. [ Keyword: might ]

So far, so good. (No one has tried to kill him yet.) I hope it isn't too quiet.

If you enjoy a hunt, that’s how can you treat the ayakashi, and the prayers are… well, probably depends on who decides to call your name.
