[The man gives a cocky smile.]
Um hello, far shore, is it? [He rubs the back of his neck nervously.] I'm new. I'm afraid most of what they told me didn't make a lot of sense, but I'll catch on. I was told that meeting others would help me orient myself.
So, hello.

But I have my name, it's Eric. I can't say a fight doesn't have its appeal. Something exciting. [He meets Alan's eyes and he feels like his knees will buckle.]
I'm taking it slow. Think I'll get assigned soon? How long have you been here?

Not that kind of name. Your god will give you a second name to create a bond between the two of you so that you can fight together and be bound.
[Which makes his stomach flip. Eric bound to anyone else just seems wrong somehow.]
Your God will find you. They'll have a vision or something you'll have luck finding them at the training ground. I arrived with the previous batch so not very long.

At the second, his lips part and ragged sound escapes his throat. His eyes sting and his vision has gone blurry from tears. The worst of it was he already has all these memories of Eric - but he knows he doesn't have the vision of Eric's Death his God would have. Instead, he's shaking his head rather forcefully; his hands unclasped and trembling as he brings them up to remove his glasses.]
No.
[The word is jagged and broken. Before Alan bows his head there's the clear sign of tears on his cheeks.]
I'm not your God. You need to find them. Whoever they are.

[He's forcing the words out, glasses being set aside with a slight click. 'I thought maybe you were.' Oh you don't know how much I wish... And he can't even tell Eric. He can never tell Eric.]
I'll be fine. My Shinki can take care of me. I'm in good hands. Castiel is a good Shinki he takes excellent care of me.
[But he wishes he was in different ones which is horrible because Cas has been nothing but a model Shinki.]
I'm certain of it. I don't have the vision of you that would mean I was your God. I'm sorry. I'm sorry to be a disappointment to you, Eric.
[His own words sting and he can taste bile. Alan's throat works and he's gritting his teeth, resting a hand against his chest.]
I should go. Good luck finding your God. Perhaps we'll speak again soon.

If you're certain.
[And there's a forced broken smile.]
Good night, Eric, and good luck. If you have any problems with your god let me know I'll speak with them.
