Good day, everypony! I have a question for you all: when those ayakashi that looked like fireflies came out of the opening near the viewing, at one point there was a giant sword hovering above the scene.

Does anypony know what that was about?

How could you tell how much power it has? [Now he's just curious.]

I am very experienced in such things, along with a certain amount of natural talent. I can use magic myself, you see.

What kind of magic?

[But probably more importantly—] Do you think it was dangerous?

Unicorn magic is very diverse, and I am honestly very good at most of it.

The sword was very dangerous, but in the way a knife is. A knife is sharp and you can potentially cut yourself, but that does not make it bad. Potential and result are not the same. I sensed nothing at all malicious about it, and much with the potential to be good.

[Something about the latter comment resonates with him, though in which direction, he's...not sure. The strict facts about the sword is a good thing, though.]

Well, think of it like your skin. You can deliberately touch things to understand texture, temperature, hardness, and so forth -- but you can also sense those things when something presses up against you, even if you weren't deliberately trying to find out.

So it's like a second skin...

Oh, sorry. As you can probably tell, I don't know anything about the sword. Maybe it was like an aurora?

It was real and physical, no illusion. Unless you meant in some other way?

Something that happens naturally sometimes.

[It probably wouldn't be that weird in that case, but he's a shinki; he can't remember lots of things!]

Something...rarer than an actual aurora is, and undocumented?

[Because that's totally a thing that happens.] The world can be kind of strange sometimes...

In the form of a sword? I admit this is a strange place with very incredible happenings at every turn, but that seems unlikely even by those standards.

Is it really that strange?

You're probably right. [Since he didn't even see it and all.]

I think it is strange. It certainly wouldn't be something I'd expect to see even in very unusual circumstance.

Not a natural phenomenon, then! Sorry, that was the only thing I could of.

Oh, don't apologize! The only way we learn is by questioning what we see and trying to understand it.

That's nice of you! But I'm used to it. [He's a shinki, after all; better sooner than after blight.]

But are you investigating, or just curious?

Both. Given the nature and power of that manifestation, I am not comfortable failing to understand it... but I would be curious even if I was!

Could it really be considered failing if there's no information, though? [~Wise words~ from a kid who was prone to sleeping in class while he was in school...]

You keep an eye on these kinds of things?

There is information. Just not enough. But I don't mean the term prejudicially.

Large and potentially dangerous threats are something I have to be aware of in the course of my duties, so it's not something I can easily put aside here.

That's some dedication! I guess I can understand that, though. It's hard to let go of things from home, right?

More than just that, it is part of my nature. I cannot imagine not being this way and still being myself.

Oh, that's a good way of looking at it.

But...people change, you know? I don't think anyone would want to find out they weren't a good person before they arrived here.

Well, that is more of a worry for a shinki than a god, I think.

That's true. Guess I was thinking of something else.

Well, I can't say I've known anyone who worried about that, either.
